That was my thinking when I noticed that lol.

I had students who were 10 second flat 100 meter runners as D1 college athletes. One saw me on campus with my Siberian husky and bet he could catch her and tag her tail while running. Bless his heart for trying. Even Bolt couldn't have caught a sled dog at full speed if he'd tried.

yeah, the dog was pulling up the entire time. I saw a dog chase a chicken one time and it's a whole other level of speed and intensity when dogs actually want to run hard.

The main part of this to remember is that this dog could easily catch up to anyone if she wanted to, because if a dog is serious or specifically, running more than 100m, then you'll definitely be caught

I got her at 9.57 hand time so she’s around 9.62 9.63 Iaaf timing. Just shows how insane bolt is

The dog didn't run in a straight line tho so not an accurate time

I retimed the run off of the video with a handheld old fashioned stop watch. I consistently got 9.6 seconds. So Maddy was almost exactly as fast as Usain Bolt. When I did the original timing on the video I was using a somewhat unresponsive smart phone touch screen that gave an inaccurate measure.

Fast dog but almost half the speed of a greyhound. Greyhounds run their first 100 meters in about 5.5 seconds. They are the world's fastest breed and they have a double suspension gallop so all four paws are off the ground when they are fully extended so they are flying during their run.

Considering that Usain Bolt gets around 9 and a half seconds on rubber, I still wouldn’t expect about 10 seconds on a flatish field. The time would vary max a quarter second.

For some reason dogs are slower than most similar animals. Most can't run up to 40km/h at all, and are usually limited to the low 30s. But some are pretty fast, like this one.

That dog wasn't at full speed...if it were a chase then it could have passed that Bolt record by far
