Franchise mode used to be the 💩. You could literally do anything. Build a stadium relocate team control ticket and concession prices. Change uniforms hire coaching staff training camps. Etc.

The idiots who says EA should skip madden for a year to focus on revamping the entire game is the dumbest business mind in the world, no company would miss out on millions, plus madden feeds actually ea employees, creators with ads and also youtubers we love to watch, no madden no content. We gotta stop just being consumers its 3 sides to every business ownership, employees and consumers. I know most of yall can't create a spreadsheet on excel but yet yall have all the answers on creating a video game. You ever notice NONONE has made a video on how to actually fix madden issues and add features back its the same repetitive videos "we had this feature, mode in madden 2001,just bring it back." video games is deeper than we think.

The x-factors are especially OP for defensive players. Defensive x-factors create fumbles on 90% of their tackles. Oh and you can rarely throw in their direction as the WRs drop the ball.....the player won't swat the ball your player will just drop them.

Jonathan George first, I did play the game. And it’s just facts, it’s a better game. Secondly, they said they’re gonna be conservative about making changes. Here’s my explanation on why the community is the issue. And before you lose it again, EA does still deserve blame. However, you have these people crying for realism. Then we get realistic pass rush and these same noobs are crying that they can’t do anything against it because it comes in too quick. Well what do you want? Half of these guys cry for stuff and then complain when they get it. They said they’re not changing pass rush and they’re gonna be conservative about making changes this year. They made their own brand of game this year. They took out all the things that help noobs win like ball hawk for one example. So again, EA is to blame but the community deserves a great deal of it too. No one ever wants to admit they’re the issue.

"Everyone is sick of the game after December"? I was done with Madden 19 by the end of September, and done with Madden 20 by the first week of October.

LOL, Madden 20 is so bad - exact same issue as the last five games. It always feels like you're fighting with the players that you're controlling - there's no fluidity to the movement. And I understand that they're trying to simulate inertia, but in real life you can pretty easily control your momentum, whereas in this game it's like all of your players have cerebral palsy.

The Frostbite Engine is to blame. While it's good for 1st person shooters. Although in any other type of game they've had dissatorious outcomes. Anthem for instance and Maddens is a close second. The graphics are better than Ignite but the control is even worse. Atleast with Ignite you felt like you were in control after initial contact or breaking tackles. With Frostbite it seems too often that your not controlling the player once the canned animations kick in. To me it's just like your goin through the motions repeatedly without any real impact being felt when you do any user controlled command which seems to happen few and far between. Sadly on the gameplay side of things I don't think anything will change untill they ditch Frostbite.

Have been saying this for years. Madden's development team is advised to add incremental improvements to the game. Hence, that's why this game hasn't gotten better. Moreover, they take away features and then add it back after 3-5 years advertising it as a new feature. Ruthless business practices. But as long as people continue to buy, they will continue to deliver crap. I haven't given EA a dime since Madden 06. Still not convinced.

I was so close to getting it; even went to the XBox store. Decided to wait and when I watched this, that was the moment I made up my mind. EA almost got me too. Because all year I've been telling my buddies that I wasn't buying it until some things were changed. How is it that NCAA 14 is still a better product than Madden? How is it that create a play was in the PS2 version of the game and not since? Anyone remember how dope it was to create your own plays? The X-Factor stuff seams nice. It actually makes the stars feel like stars. But, I could have sworn that they had something similar to that in a previous version. I'm thinking PS2 again. Because I seem to remember some players having a clutch gene or something. And other traits similar to what NBA 2K has had for years. Anyway, again, thx for the video. You saved me some money.

@@laOrzy NHL 20 added a new shooting system, coaching carousel, trade finder, goalie reactions, broadcast package, commentary, improved breakout puck pickups. NHL 19 had fog of war, world of Chel and new scouting systems. NHL, while it hasn't been good, has still been more innovative than Madden with 1/6 the budget.

This video is on point. But I bought madden20 anyway. WHY? because I love football and have no other options. Madden would easily be destroyed if any other company had rights to make a nfl game...

The officials on the field used to actually be able to effect the player, it could give your receiver a big break or cause an incompletion or allow a wide open receiver get tackled because the officials got in the way. Don't know if I miss that or not

EA ruined fifa and Madden cause they only care about ultimate team.

You earned a sub. Excellent review and video. You accurately portrayed the things many of us have been frustrated with for years.

When I play franchise I want an experience. I remember the radio show and how I'd get a kick out of retirement notices and a Hall of Fame class announcement. Touches like that made the game feel much more organic and immersive. And being able to look at where your guy (and others) were in terms of league records, seeing how some guys faded or changed teams and how that impacted their contributions, making the whole thing feel as if you were a part of the history of the game playing through a few years and trying to carve a niche, that was everything. I was one of those who'd show up at a gaming store at midnight and call off the next day so I could play. Now...I've probably bought one copy of the game in the last five or six years and I think the poorness of the series, the lack of substantive progress on those points, things that once interjected a palpable excitement into the process for a guy without a team in his state has actually impacted my following of the NFL as well.

Your mini rant about MUT honestly made my day, it's sad that Madden cares more about scamming kids/sad adults then fixing Franchise mode to what it once was over a decade ago.

This explains it so well. I haven't played madden since 08 and loved the superstar mode, building a franchise, etc. I come back to expecting it to be better with madden 20 and it was just like you said... it's worse than what it was 12 YEARS AGO!!! Like how do you go that far backwards? Where i could come hone and play madden 08 for YEARS and now get bored of madden 20 in a matter of 2 weeks. I wasted my money and can assure you I'll never make the same mistake again...

This is what happens when you don't have competition. Late 90s and early 2000s was the golden years for football games...

All this and you didn't even mention another major awful aspect of Madden: player ratings vs what they actually make players do on the field. I stopped playing a few years ago, when EA finally released some information about this...and outright lied about what the ratings do (proven through controlled trials). OVR is a lie, str 0 vs 99 did nothing in run blocking, numerous other stats had hidden animation break points or did nothing despite supposedly contributing to OVR and/or doing something according to EA. Not only does this wreck developing players in franchise mode because it's unclear which ratings improvements actually help you, it also affects MUT. People buy and use cards based on their ratings. Which were and probably still are falsely stated to do things they don't. So in addition to the moral not-so-grey area of effectively letting kids gamble on rewards as significant "whales" for the game, there is a legitimate case EA committed/commits fraud and I sincerely hope they get smacked with class action on that at some point. But still not as much as I hope they lose exclusivity rights with NFL.

Custom packages and manual subs on special teams from madden 08 is my favorite missing feature. It really gave importance to back up players and consequently drafting/FA.

I’m a season and a half into the Face of the Franchise mode and Isaiah Streets and the little girl have vanished. Coach no longer sends texts and the only people who contact my character are upcoming opponents and fellow players who seem impossible to satisfy. Lol I guess EA figured nobody would stay engaged long enough to get through more than on season. They weren’t off buy much.

How this game is an 8 is absolutely insane. It’s the same game the last 10 years and it’s getting worse.

He's not reporting that EA is buying reviews. He's speculating that they MIGHT be - which evidently some of you found entertaining, but that's something that some publishers have done (rarely) in the past. It is a serious accusation and worth reporting if it is true, but kind of stupid and manipulative to speculate about every time games get higher scores than someone thinks they should get - especially if the scores are high from a lot of publications and/or those that have a history of **not** caving to publisher pressure. It's just a youtube streamer, but he's choosing to go full scorched earth to get attention and even making shit up and calling it a comedic sketch to cover himself from slander allegations - even though he's inventing it whole cloth instead of it being based on any facts or even allegations from a source that isn't just some dude ranting on KZread.

The rights aren't EA's to give, it's the NFL you should be directing your anger towards. After 2K5 was released as a budget title which drove down the price of Madden they decided not to allow more than one developer to have the rights because they felt the competition was "cheapening" the brand. If EA didn't have exclusive rights, someone else would instead.

The review I was waiting for!! This is what I needed to hear. I’ll just keep playing Madden 12 Note: I recently got Madden 20 for free and man, it’s literally the same shit as last year. Literally the same. The gameplay is a little better, but the constant issues are STILL there. They just don’t care. They’ll shell out the same shit every year. EVERY YEAR. Nothing has changed. If you really want a football game with current stars, just wait for the sale or just settle for the classic good Maddens (etc: 04-08) because it is NOT worth the $60.

Ricky Hadou yeah I enjoyed 05-07 on ps2 even though my 07 liked to freeze up a lot 🤷🏻‍♂️ On PS3 I enjoyed 07,08,11 and 12. The ones on ps4 seem pretty lifeless. If I had to pick one I guess I'd play 25, maybe 18. At the end of the day I always go back to NFL 2k5.

Strong review. The pearl-clutching on microtransactions is definitely heavy-handed, but everything else was on point. The modes aren't perfect and changes are coming whether the gaming companies like it or not, but this idea that companies are somehow evil for finding a way to make money from their games - which is the goal of a business - is silly. At any rate, I don't wanna get lost on 5 seconds of a 20-minute review. Your critiques of EA and the persistent of blandness of Madden were spot on.

@@nappyheadj5523 I've been criticizing the game all over the internet since EA bought the license. Sorry I didn't write a novel for you here. It just shows how EA phones it in and doesn't even care by using NFL celebrations for college.

@@ralphkramden2826 the fact is that you complained about EA not taking NFL celebrations out of 2 meaningless college games in the first place, I don't care about what else you complained because I've complained about them too, whatever man nvm, I don't understand why anyone would complain about something so small and and useless

It’s crazy how madden can’t come close to 2000s football game. all it has on them is graphics

*I purchased Madden 19 a few months ago because it was like $10-20. I was extremely disappointed. I hadn't purchased a Madden since Playstation 2 (Madden 05 I think) but had I purchased almost every NCAA Football. I was going to purchase Madden 20 because of the NCAA playoff. Boy am I glad that I watched this review first lol. Thanks for saving me $60!*

Madden has some good years. I liked 08 12 but yeah the last five years all trash
