Can’t believe it’s about to be almost 20 years ago

Im 57 years old. And Ive played every Madden prior to 2022. The best in my opinion were the PS2 Maddens. With my favorites being 05 and 06. Cant believe that EA couldnt do better on PS3 and PS4. And im not sure i will ever get a PS5. But I sure miss playing against my brothers, my son, my friends. Or even those relaxing solo franchise seasons on my days off. Maybe Ill buy a refurbished PS2 and these favorites for another run at a championship. 🏈🏆

I hear ya brother. Altho I gotta say that once I got an Xbox, I never went back to playing these on PS2 because 1. They looked better and 2. All the franchise mode stuff and loading rosters and simulating weeks etc ran a lot faster on thr Xbox.

the commentator combo alone made this the best madden game.

Having a bad day, walked a bunch of miles, had to ask a kid to call my mom to pick me up at midnight at some shady area because I'm down to my last dollar at 23. I just want to binge my childhood games right now... those were better times, not a worry in the world, no stress. Just fun.

This game could have been better compared to the 2K series. Players moved like boxcars, and the trajectory of the passes was similar to NES football games.

I used to be so good at scheming defensive audibles. Like I'd pick an engage eight, and then audible 4 of the 8 blitzers to coverages in the flats and seams, while the blitz is disguised. Worked like a charm lol

I played this madden until 09 on the ps3. This game was literally what I probably spent too much time doing instead of homework or chores but I miss the good ol days of not needing to have the newest game every so often and just riding it out for a while lol

When Madden was fun

This games only flaw was that the field was too bright. The shadows too dark. Contrast for dummies. But still one of the best Madden's ever.

My favorite Madden year of all time.

Still have this madden, still play this madden, it's my personal favorite despite its weird flaws, and I 100% understand how the QB Vision was a controversial take it or leave it feature, but I personally enjoyed it and it's by far the EASIEST madden game you can play! However I learned some things over the years about this game, namely If you edit the rosters too much (and this goes for the NCAA games too!) via trades/free agent pickups among other things you do to all 32 teams, the game WILL crash upon starting a franchise/tournament mode. I don't know why. Punt return blocking is unbelievably ASS in this game, 2007 finally fixed it, but I have to pull a Devin Hester/Dante Hall just to return a punt in this game! Strangely whenever I play a game as the Packers, I always get the 5 WR's they have involved (Javon Walker, Donald Driver, Robert Ferguson, Terrence Murphy (never played, career ending neck injury iirc), and Antonio Chatman) but that's not the strange part, 99% of games I've played, Robert Ferguson is always double/triple covered, and I think it's because the AI targets the highest paid receiver on your team, and Ferguson is paid more than Walker/Driver. EA only used a SINGLE BIT OF DATA for the scoring! Meaning, if you score enough points, you can max out! The max is 255 (single bit of data), aka 36 Touchdowns and a Field Goal. Absolutely hated the following however, the morale system is still stupid to this day (which is why I edit the rosters, so all 32 teams can avoid that), you could give a player all the playing time in the world and be 16-0, and he'll still be mad because he's not "starting", and it also had horrible draft AI (teams WILL draft fullbacks, kickers, or punters in the early rounds if they don't have any!). Certain Quarterbacks have personalities in game! Peyton Manning and Tom Brady will audible frequently! Favre ironically doesn't compared to how he was IRL. And of course any quarterback with 75+ speed will frequently scramble like Vick, Culpepper, and McNabb. Some QB's are so bad that fumbles can happen via laterals (Backwards passes)! But I've only ever seen this from the Bears! LMAO! This game also has my favorite playbooks offensively and defensively, I have yet to play a Madden that was a good as this one.
