I feel like it will be at least 5 more years until a Madden game is even worth buying. And when will they implement some sort of branching storyline elements to career mode? It's so boring just ONLY being on the field and that's it. Why not allow us to have our player have their own personality? Why not include press conferences where you can choose different answers to the questions that you're asked, which shapes the sort of reputation you become known for having as a person? Bring back some of those fun mini-games where you'd actually do the workouts during the combine as an entering rookie. Remember when they had that? You did the bench press reps, the broad jump, and the 40 yrd time. Bring back the parents' backstory feature that was used to help shape what traits you, as a player, might possess that could set you apart from others at your position. Bring back that radio sports station feature where, if you did well that week, you can tune in and the radio hosts are mentioning your name, your stats, and any big key plays you may have made? And for the love of Buddha can I PLEASE be a kicker in career mode? Some of us actually enjoy the concept of just being the kicker of a team. Hell, even a punter. I would honestly love to play a full career as a kicker. I find that concept fun. If EA were to make one Madden game every 3 years instead of every year, they'd be so much better, have much more depth, and would just be overall more fun. And every new Madden wouldn't feel like last year's Madden with slightly updated animations and textures.

Liam Luvai yeah you can choose what the default is, whether it's kicking or receiving, I'm saying I hate how they got rid of the on the field coin toss where you can call heads or tails and then pick kick or receive. Sometimes I want kick, other times I want receive.

I put over hundreds of hours into Madden 12, and Madden 16 is quickly catching up. As a game, 16 is definitely fresh but it can't beat 12. 12 just had everything on point, it was a masterpiece.

gotta agree i love madden 12 build a superstar connected franchise and everything else it was a masterpiece. 16 is great too but my all time favorite is 06 the first true modern madden imo. i liked 15 a lot too

98 and 99 is a big improvement

I've played every Madden since Madden 97 and ik for a fact that Madden 97 did NOT look and sound like that. This video is in 1080p and everything looks like it's in 144p.

John Madden Football 2004's motion graphics when it comes to the running aspect of the game looks so much better than today's Madden. The best feature ever created in a video game was the addition of the play editor. How I miss those days.

Nope. You're looking through rose colored 2k glasses, and not remembering it's many faults. I know the madden hate bandwagon likes to jump on the "2k5 is the greatest" bandwagon like lemmings, but you guys are not rational. It was better than madden 05-07, but it ends there. There were good things about 2k, but also a lot of bad.

I miss playing Madden 2001 and 2002 on my Grandparents DreamCast

Old Madden in the 90s omg had it on Sega then Madden 99 on N64

While it may have evolved graphic wise, my 95 catch rating players refuse to catch the ball, my 96 RB fumbles 2+ times a game, and I find myself returning to madden like a drug addict returns to crack. No matter how much it hurts, keep going back.

wow madden 98 to madden 99 made some serious improvements

Madden 92' was personal. Much ass was whipped on that game for Sega.

2002 was a huge step up!

True, the only thing madden is missing is a "my career" like game mode where they allow you to make your own decisions, partner with companies, communicate with teammates, basically like 2ks my career but football.

The first one on PS2 was the biggest leap I remember. (2001, the one with Eddie George on the cover) That jump was just insane. Madden has had a tough time transitioning to new consoles since then, obviously. Games are much harder to make these days.
