I’d like to see a pie chart of EAs budget allocation for Madden. 70% on advertising, 15% on graphics and flashy animations, 14% on MUT and the last 1% on other insignificant features like…. Actual gameplay and depth. Just my guess.

@@richardharris1904 Exclusivity. They reached an exclusive licensing agreement with the NFL in 2005 and with league’s increasing popularity and spike in consumers have no competition and no incentive to improve the game. Online play and MUT have been the nail in the coffin.

There was supposed to be a "make right" for franchise players but ONLY benefits MUT players, there was supposed to be a great leap in gameplay because it was make or break year (people obliviously should be fired!) and the game was supposed to not be Madden 23 v2.0 just like Madden 22 was Madden 21 v2.0 I guess in reality, we are all playing Madden 13 v11.0! Ryan, thank you for the work you do. I played this game on Steam (already refunded). My first time playing Madden in over 5+ years. I was absolutely appalled. I had no idea it had gotten this bad. Wonder if you can make a video talking about these menus? I mean, it is 2023 and we are on NEXT-GEN CONSOLES? The UI on the menus look disgusting and we had MUCH faster menus on games in the early 2000s. Crazy.

Your most accurate line to date " not a football game a video game." That's soooo true, but what do we expect when we have the most popular part of the game where DL'S playing RB. RB'S playing LB, etc. Between that and Abilities, we will never have a simulation game unless they truly build totally separately and start over from scratch as you have suggested.

To be fair - it was a server issue that might not 100% be EA but this whole "pre order to play early" has been a mess.

I miss the 360 2007-about 2010 verisons of madden. where stick skill actually mattered. now animations can swing a game even for someone who sucks.

Rusher gets by the blocker & he just keeps looking ahead incase a second rusher magically appears in front to get by him.

@@SteamedPickles I understand that but if you really pay attention to your blockers on the o line they barely push back they always stay stagnant which is why the rusher beats them i totally get a good user rush but sometimes these oline players aren’t coded to actually drive the dline back they just stand them up and sit we all played ball those oline guys will lay you down

The biggest issue this year in my opinion is that almost every play atleast 1 receiver stops running early af in the route because they got bumped. Or receivers have their routes turning into different routes because they got bumped

@@Jc23812 the only qb im having trouble containing is lamar… wide set d-line and select to qb contain has been doing the job for me, but thats just about knowing the game the qbs running is nowhere near as bad as it was with escape artist that year and mobile qbs should be able to run a bit. Its not sim-like for lamar jackson to be getting chased down by a 280 pound 80 speed defensive lineman, against certain qbs they should be able to get out easy just like they do in real life so I’m not having an issue with that defensively, but that’s probably just a sign im a better madden player than you. My only issue defensively is when using match coverage (the only real way to make zone usable for years now) is outside thirds and outside quarters randomly crash down to match routes letting streaks and corner routes right over their head for easy touchdowns. Much more offensive issues in this years game than defensive, offensive line doesn’t pick up linebackers at the second level like they used to, nano blitzes from even front defenses come in showing the o line is still easily cheesable (nickel wide nine, big nickel over g just to name a few where you can get a free guy only sending 4 or 5 meaning someone missed an assignment. Mobile quarterbacks scrambling is not even close to the biggest issue. Nano blitzes Receivers lose logic from getting bumped Deep zones crashing down when there are deep running routes These are all unavoidable, all you have to do to avoid being scrambled on is contain in your preplay adjustments. For extra help containing the qb since you clearly cant do it, sub your fastest linebackers into your defensive end spots in your formation subs, now you will have 85-90 speed depending on the guy out there meaning he is faster than almost every quarterback, since qbs are slower behind the line of scrimmage those guys can also take lamar down quite a few times throughout a game as well.. click right on the right stick once the qb gets to the numbers to send your flat defenders to get the qb since he wont play crossers anyway because the qb rolled out. Honestly if you can’t stop someone from rolling out every play you dont really deserve to win the game..

I just started playing the free trial of Madden 24 on xbox series x and it's comical how identical this game is to Madden 23. The only difference is the game flow is quicker on M24 but that's about it.

This is spot on! The crowd and game is lifeless. I make a diving catch for a touchdown…actually cool looking…however the crowd makes no reaction, no noise or movement. DEAD. I was like….did I drop it? Did I not score….? I got so frustrated…turned on FIFA 23…started up a game…Manchester United…stadium was alive. Presentation, music, ambiance, commentators, score a goal…crowd goes absolutely bananas…bananas! Jumping out of their seats, arms swinging, jumping on each other, screen shaking, stadium rumbling, commenting excited…big let down.

One of the best Lineman in the NFL just lets the defender go right past him.

I haven't really played Madden since PS2. But I'm back with PS5. And after watching these vids, it's surprising the gameplay isn't much more improved over this time. Kinda makes me want to go back on my pre-order. But I'm even more interested in the NCAA version coming out next year. And if it's going to be more of the same, then that'll be a shame.

Same custom playbook bugs from when it was reintroduced as a feature around M13, same player franchise camera issues on kick/punt returns from last madden, etc.

I got it through their EA Play thing to try out. Every time I try to load my saved online Franchise is logs me out of the EA Account and sends me back to the menu. This game is a laggy mess.

Ryan how is throwing animations and ball trajectories? Wobbly passes or wounded duck passes?

Most people who purchases madden on an annual basis do not care if the game plays mostly the same as before or have all the legacy issues that have plagued for every edition released. They purchase mainly to compete with friends online and spend most of the time playing MUT.

And rightfully so. You pressure the QB, he throws off his back foot - you have a DB right where the ball is going to land. But because EA is animation based and random guy leaps from the pile to catch it and score.

I'm being 💯 with u. I played 1 game yesterday at around 7pm pst. It's 11pm omw home from work.. and I'm not even excited to play it!

I've been saying for years that because EA refuses to create a NEW GAME for new hardware they are limited by the old framework. EA has to remove things in order to keep the game from breaking. When EA removes something it's not just to bring it back as new later. It can't handle everything without removing features and assets. Your "Next-Gen" Madden is tasked to the max unless they constantly remove or tweak things. Just goes to show what we all know. 2 generation old games ported over to Next-gen consoles but handicapped by it's PS3/360 limitations. 😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣

Us PC players who bought and downloaded the game through steam can’t even play the game early. EA Play will tell us to re-download the game through EA-Play and what’s crazy is that nobody’s madden will download through EA Play. It would just get stuck on (preparing download) for hours🤦🏽‍♂️. They have yet to fix it

Even before that, it’s the throw off of the back foot that went from 20 to 20. That’s a 60 yard throw!!!! Off his back foot!!

I played the beta and threw a deep ball and literally made a catch based off the ball changing its trajectory and going straight to my guys hands so he could have his animation play out. Like when I saw it live I didn’t notice it just thought well 1 on 1 deep balls are gonna be good which I like but then I went back to the replay to see how the whole play developed and was shocked to see the ball literally change its trajectory. Still in madden 24. And then if you punted with backspin it would literally back spin 20 yards so if you kicked it on to the 5 yd with back spin it would ridiculously bounce back and they’d end up with the ball on like the 25, game def still has issues but its “another step in the right direction” as IGN would love to say. Cuz there are things they have def improved upon but still the game needs a lot of work. But Ryan they did actually update some things so I’ll give them some credit

That must be a glitch. I did some punts today and had backspin. One bounces maybe 10 yards, the other barely bounced much. It probably has to do with the way the ball lands or you’re over exaggerating lol

No QB is throwing the ball 60 yards off his back foot while rolling right and rushed. At least with APF2K8 the QB's throwing ability is compromised when throwing off his back foot leading to an underthrown ball like in real life.

I did some research the line blocking is based on overall line stats . to get 2 seconds in the pocket line gotta be 75 over avg 2.5 80 3 sec 85. that's why they only hold blocks so long .. abilities =DDA that explains why linemen get cooked. they gave the ability to dbl team then nurfed it halfway thru that year.. mut just allows you to get a more "complete" 😂😂 game .. salute

They STILL haven’t fixed or updated any throwing motions. Madden 11 had player specific motions. Mlb the show thousands of throwing animations. But they can’t make a qb look like he knows how to play football. Ridiculous

My wife got me the game, first time in years I’ve played Madden since it’s always sucked. The only good way I’ve enjoyed it is playing on the same team with my brother for franchise mode. We had a game that we should’ve lost in overtime, but the ai didn’t realize they only needed a field goal while at our 10 yard line. They ran a play and then time expired. It was so stupid and we didn’t feel like we earned it.

Everything is wrong with it. The end zone poles disappeared too. And re appeared. If animations are dependent in this game then it's like a gambling game. 😅

Downloaded the trial on my PC last night and it was the most miserable hour of Madden I’ve played. The game is so bad

Like I've said before, anyone still excusing this with "it's just Day 1" or "it's just the beta" is quite frankly too immature to have adult conversations about stuff like this. No one should be excusing this game at this point. I just want to know when the excuses will stop. Will the excuses stop when EA loses the license? When EA gets a false advertising suit for decades worth of lies? I genuinely want to know.

There’s a huuuuuuge reason why they probably won’t give the NFL License for everyone to use. You’ll be shocked.

I just watched Bengal play a franchise game and get absolutely robbed on an onside kick scripted for a certain team to get the ball. Three of his player were in a good position to grab the ball easily after a good kick and hit on the attempted return, but the animation said otherwise. Yet another year I am passing on the SAME game with updated graphics.

The bill comes due ALWAYS!!!!, this dates back to 2006 period & the lack of quality control and everyone that sat back and made excuses or lied the Bill has come due

I don’t think I’ve ever seen a game so universally hated but purchased en masse. I really hope this year is the year people wake up and start to hold these devs accountable. I decided to give the 10 Hr trial a chance I did last 10 minutes I was doing the mini camp pre season games for my franchise it's sooooo glitchy you can't tackle the RB and the trench fight you can't even sack the QB he breaks free every time and starts sliding out of the play area I should've recorded it.

Lot of these plays need to be in madden more so u cant rely on the same animations

What makes this game even worse is the fact that the game doesn’t account for conditional draft picks. Started up franchise as the packers, made Rodgers start every game by turning off injuries, simmed to the 2024 draft only to see that the conditional draft pick is still a second despite Aaron Rodgers playing more then 65% of snaps for the jets. I truly did not expect madden to take account for that. I would’ve been very impressed if they did.

I believe the only real changes that are made to this game are new dances and celebrations

I'm not a Madden fan, but the user causes this problem 90% of the time. Players don't understand the QB position and how the line works. You can't drop back out of a shotgun that many yards. You're giving the defender a straight line to you. You must step up in the pocket people! I think 2K8 had an auto step up animation out of a shotgun. Madden needs to do this because players don't know how to step up in order for the linemen to block on the outside.

They have been selling us "user penalties" for YEARS, it was going to decrease accuracy , then it was going to lower the pass tragectory. People do this because it works - so you cant fault them. The game needs to code against this stuff working.

EA sports makes $600 Million annually off of Madden sales so people are still buying the game every year so it can't be that bad, the numbers don't lie

My second year not buying Madden, last year there was a trial on the PlayStation store but it wasn't a trial they accidentally put it up so I got Madden 23 for free, and by the looks of it Madden 24 is even worse, just want to say thank you Ryan for opening my eyes and realizing that I'm wasting money on a company that doesn't care about their consumer
