@ericab9850
3 жыл бұрын
@@mynameisnobody3964 I totally agree. I'm so tired of reading replies like "uuu they cancelled mad tv because it was tEw eDgY" when really, the truth is simple for literally anyone that was there for the original run. Goes a little like this: The rest of the cast has been successful in their own rights - Ike Barinholtz is in several mainstream comedy movies. Alex Borstein has played Lois Griffin on Family Guy for over two decades. Obviously, we have Key and Peele. Stephnie Weir is on Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, Debra Wilson and Michael McDonald do voice work now, Nicole Parker was playing Elphaba in Wicked on Broadway for a stint, heck even Will Sasso and Nicole Sullivan had a few unfunny tries at sitcom acting. The fact that MOST comedic actors don't achieve even that level of success shows that their accomplishments are pretty impressive! I'm *sure* people would be watching MadTV if it was still on. But one thing I remember was there was a HUGE change of venue/format in the last season that made it unwatchable. I remember because I was 16 and very disappointed with the move from pre-recorded set sketches to almost exclusively on-stage live comedy, moving the time slot from 11 PM to 12 AM (in DIRECT competition with much larger and longer-running SNL) the venue moving from Hollywood to a much smaller theater in Burbank, and KZread was taking off with homemade sketch comedy of its own. Edited for clarity!

It’s different now , people are so divided and stuck in their own bubbles . We don’t talk to each other anymore so everyone is so offended because everyone thinks the other person isn’t coming from a good place because we don’t really know each other anymore . We can’t understand where any one else is coming from so we all take offense

@@cleobinx It's called oversocialization. Ted Kaczynski wrote about it being a problem even BEFORE we had the internet, let alone social media. Oh yeah, that Ted Kaczynski... I disagree with his methods, but he hat important things to say. Hence the attention-getting actions he undertook as the Unabomber. I'm not justifying it, but that's what he did.
Truly the best comedy sketch show of all time. This generation would have a seizure if they seen 10 minutes of this show! We had the golden era growing up!

Most people who were on MadTV were blacklisted because they viciously made fun of so many celebrities and Hollywood big shots. It's the opposite of SNL where they are rewarded with careers for towing the line.

@ericab9850

Moments like 9:33 are why Debra will ALWAYS rule MADTV! She is a damn fool 🤣🤣
