One of the hardest things to do in sketch comedy is to write an ending with a punchline that punctuates the rest of the sketch, especially one that is both funny and unexpected. This sketch nails it.

There's an SNL sketch from the late 90s that was very similar to this one as far as build up and punchline. The sketch was called "The Men at the Center of the Earth."

This is SO sad tho. This happened to my cousin....except for the whole killing part. No one wanted any of her macaroni salad at a family gathering. I ended up eating some and it was actually quite good. I just wanted her to feel better lol. There is nothing worse than NO ONE eating something that you put time and effort into. Poor thing.

I love that they made sure to hint at the ending, you can see that there's been killings from macoroni salad and you can see the shock, hesitancy and disgust every time someone looks at the salad, especially at the beginning when she gives the bowl to the host.

Great comedy writing. The best comedy comes from those little tragedies that many can relate to. This reminds me of the time I made rice-krispie treats for a school bake sale and barely anyone bought one.

This, Kids in the hall, and David Letterman showed on a Swedish channel called Z’tv. I had a small tv in my room growing up and this kept me from doing homework and instead staying up WAY to late at night. Good times, miss the 90’s!

An acquaintance of my mom brought a pink heart shaped cake she had bought for my sister's birthday when she was a teen. My mom had invited her girlfriends from school for the birthday party, and they got busy having fun disguising in her room after lunch, before dessert. Then everybody wondered where the woman was, my mom's acquaintance wasn't in sight, they all looked for her.... she was hysterically crying in the kitchen, throwing a tantrum because nobody cared about HER cake! All the girls felt embarassed and uncomfortable, the happy vibe was gone. This woman was an adult.... so immature and self-centered! This sketch is hilarious, and made me think of her!
