I'm just really confused as to why so many people love Fury Road. Yeah the action was pretty cool, but I'd say there was literally only 2 or 3 minutes of actual character development. That made the action scenes extremely boring and repetitive for me since I didn't really get to know the characters

Plus I think Nicholas holt deserves a razzie award for this. And max is seriously one of the most underwhelming characters I've ever seen on screen. After leaving the theater, I didn't take away one interesting thing about max

I can't believe I'm saying this but: I fully agree with Duralde here. Incredible, incredible movie with some of the most absurdly outstanding action set-pieces in cinematic history. Everything in this movie just clicked for me. The action, cinematography, plot, characters, music, acting, etc. Everything was top notch. This movie blew my mind. I cannot imagine a film that can beat Fury Road this year (yes not even the almighty Star Wars, but I know you'll still be asking about that one). Maybe The Hateful Eight and the Revenant, or maybe Spectre? Though I wouldn't count on it. Maybe we should just crown Fury Road "Movie of the year" and be done with it.

William XIV Greenleaf We are pretty like minded you and I. I'll say this: it is the best, pure action film since The Matrix, maybe even before that. Return of the King is my favorite movie of all time (though I did not see it in theaters. I was about five when that was released so...yeah). There are movies since then that have been superior to Max in my opinion, some may even be classified as action movies. But to me, those movies (basically The Dark Knight and Inception) are better movies, but not better *action* movies. Mad Max was fucking incredible. I cannot wait to see it again, and again after that.

So it's every two weeks now and only a couple of you to do the reviews? You could say that's that and move on, instead of this silly business. And Max is the main character in the film. People are in trouble, he shows up and reluctantly helps them. Saves them and leaves. It's what he does. We don't need to know more about him, but we do need to know why these people needs his help. And this movie was awesome. Correction it was fucking awesome. It was like an action opera.

People who complain abut What the Flick are always complaining that - *A.* only some of the hosts are there/one of them hasn't seen the film *B.* they're too critical/they don't have the same opinions as you do. *For A,* guess what, you always have at least two or three people there - they live busy lives, if they can't always make it out to the show that THEY GIVE US FOR *FREE* then that is totally acceptable and should not be whined about constantly. and.. *For B*, they often love movies, the people who say they're too critical seem to only click on a few videos a year, which happen to be negative, and then they make assumptions, when if they'd watched their vids consistently they'd learn that WTF gives out plenty of positive feedback, it just has to be earned. It means that if WTF says it's good you *know* it is, rather than them giving up their credibility and fanboying-out all the time. People who constantly complain about WTF need to realize that it's for free -they're doing YOU a favour making these high quality videos, not the other way around by you occasionally watching them and expecting the same opinion as your own. They're critics - they're supposed to have opinions, stop shitting on them for it.

While Max is again thrown into yet another conflict he doesn't want to be part of... He is pivotal in the resolution of Furiosa's story. He basically says to her: (drawing from his own experience) "You cannot keep running from your past or your troubles, so go home and find the answers within you, make a difference where you can." I thought that was powerful, and gave the whole last sequence a lot more weight, at least to me. Great film.

I hate when people say that Max wasnt the main character in Mad Max, because the movie wouldnt even happen without him in it. The story is centered around him, and the other characters are only successful because of him. It's called "Mad Max", and his name is the first one to appear and he narrates the story.

"who doesn't want well written female characters?" I think the fact we get so few of them speaks for itself. The development of well written female characters has always been pushed aside in favor of focusing more on male characters or just out of sheer laziness. But then again we rarely get well written male characters that much either.

***** Matt--- (IN RESPONSE TO YOUR "THIS WAS A FURIOSA MOVIE") .... before anyone says that Max didn't have a CHARACTER ARC, you have to know, that a main protagonist in a story DOES NOT have to have one - as long as another character does. In this case, Furiosa carried the protagonist ARC. This is not the first time it has been used in films. In Classic James Bond movies, James Bond is the same person he was in the beginning and by the end of a story, but another character would be the one that LEARNED or CHANGED by the end. Max contributed to decisions that took the plot to new directions and ultimately benefited Furiosa as a person by the end. That was his PURPOSE in the story. Great film.

James Marlon yes it was kind of a pan-Australian accent more than a definitive regional dialect. Still, a bit better than most people's attempt. I don't know why our accent is so hard to nail? I suppose, I struggle to do a convincing Scottish accent, but most other English variants I am not too bad on. Oh well. At least they didn't dub him into a completely American accent. Small victories.

The backstory for this movie comes a lot from the details put into the setpieces and vehicles...the props tell their own story. Probably why films like LOTR are timeless, the care that is put into figuring out every little physical detail for the setpieces really shows on screen. Sure the story is a little simplistic, but I think the reason this movie stands out from the rest is because the vehicles you see on screen are real vehicles that are really driving across the desert, the explosions are real explosions and the stunts are crazy. this movie is beautifully insane and is everything a mad max film should be!

She wasn't hiis daughter because she calls him Max. There is an unexplained backstory there, but it's not a backstory on his family's death. And it's suppose to be a sequel, but it doesn't really matter. Miller also wanted it to be open to interpretation on when this story is to take place. So who really cares when it take place. In the Mad Max: Fury Road comic books, they do explain the backstory. Plus it explains how Max got his car back.

The title of the movie was very misleading. Actually it should be :"Imperator Furiosa Fury Road (starring mad max)". Btw I hope they make a Furiosa spin-off.

George Miller's brilliant script - this script was a STORY BOARD that George and his production artists worked on for a DECADE! Ten years of creating scenes into better & better action sequences. PLUS - There are two stories going on at once. 1.) The action film , and 2.) Max's spiritual inner journey from emotional loner to regaining his ability to connect to other people and finally move to help them. The best action film yet created. The HOT-ROD-APOCOLYSPE is a great genre created by George Miller.

I don't remember them saying that the ghost girl was his daughter. I just thought she was one of the people he didn't save over the years. And if it *is* his child, it doesn't mean it's a replacement of his son from the fist movie. He could've had another one who died.

It is a superb film, story, characters, production, cinematography, SFX, Music and stunts into a glorious post apocalyptic masterpiece. It's not perfect, but very close to be. George Miller created the template for the Post Apocalyptic film genre and creates a film that stands up to the entire Mad Max Trilogy perhaps even higher. It was entertaining, compelling and glorious absurd from start to finish, it committed the world that Miller constructed so superbly and succeeded beyond expectations. I highly recommend it to anyone.

They never said that the girl in Max's guilt-flash-back is his daughter. It's just someone he failed to save. They really don't tell you much, and it's on purpose. To paraphrase playwright Harold Pinter, you don't NEED to know everything about a character to be invested in them. As Pinter put it, all you need to know sometimes is "This is what they said. This is what they did," and I would add, "This is what they felt." Mad Max: Fury Road does this in spades.

I saw it in 3D (that was all that was available, which is becoming more and more common which I'm not in favor of if for no other reason than it's more expensive) and it added nothing to it for me, in fact 3D gives me a headache so it actually detracted from it. I'm not sure if it's that the glasses arms are so narrow of the 3D itself but I never come away feeling like it added anything to the experience.

I think this was a sold film. It's gorgeously filmed and absolutely exhilarating, but it was missing a spark. There's no character development, and I, being a person who reads into everything, found that a little frustrating. However, it has a flame shooting electric guitar in the arms of a masked puppet-man. Should I really be looking for ties like that? The film is awesome, plain and simple, and it reaffirmed my love for a good action flick. 3.5/5.

This film is PURE BRILLIANCE. I've watched it about 10 times now. It keeps getting better. Most action movies are dull after the first couple times watching it. Very few are re-watchable. But, every once in a while you get something special (Lethal Weapon 1, John Wick Ch. 1 & 2, Dark Knight, etc). But this fucking movie is so addicting to watch! Goddamn! This movie is not for sissies. If you are a pansy you will hate it. This is the end-all, be-all of action.

My opionion. the not so good: 1. the sped up scenes at points.like it was fast forwarding. 2.max' total lack of dialogue 3.max seemed like a secondary character. and 4.This movie is rated R, but it didnt feel like it.VERY tame to me,could have been PG13 easily. i was expecting it to be more gritty, but in hindsight i realized none of the 3 previous mad max films where ever extreme in their depictions of violence. Now the awesomeness: The action scenes, especially the ones involving vehicles (like 95% of the film) are AWESOME! And i read that very little was CGI. All in all i loved the movie. it was like when i watched prometheus: it wasnt what i expected going into to it,but i still enjoyed it alot!

Great action but I didn't love it. There was plenty of excitement going on but the story was very weak. With that said it was worth watching but I recommend shutting your brain off and just taking in the explosions and action scenes (the whole movie). I would give it 5 or 6 out of 10.
