MAD MAX: FURY ROAD is WILD! | Movie Reaction! | First Time Watch | Tom Hardy | Charlize Theron

Catchup with Reema's first time checking out Mad Max Fury Road. Guys this was a wild, crazy ride! It’s like being thrown into a whirlwind of high-octane chaos and non-stop action. But what really stood out for me was the intriguing world-building. Amid all the mayhem, there are some fascinating plot points that paint a vivid picture of this dystopian world. The details, from the warlords to the survival tactics, are just so captivating. Especially the warm feelings of support Max and Furiosa show cased. It's not just about the spectacle; it’s a rich, immersive universe that keeps you thinking long after the credits roll.

I love how Nux got the big redemption arch but wasn't really talking about it, like Max or Furiosa

So many interesting things about this movie. One, a lot of people don’t realize this Director also directed, babe. The talking Pig😅 And it took about 20 years to make this movie and Heath ledger was going to be Max Also, I believe his wife edited the movie and she won an award for her amazing editing These last two movies are definitely fantastic and watching this in theaters was amazing. Movies like these are worth paying the ticket for.😊

It works as a standalone movie which was why it was so successful. It does have a different feel if you’ve seen the previous 3 with Mel Gibson. I liked Tom Hardy as Max and I’m disappointed they didn’t find a way to make another with him. I did like the new Furiosa movie though.

Original Mad Max 1979 had such a low budget may as well be a home movie. But is so good and nailed the what if in the cold war.

The War Boys of Immortan Joe are an excellent example of how fanaticism can drive people to self-destructive acts. I actually heard a rumor that they are based on the Orks from Warhammer 40k who are absolutely psychotic during their Wauuuuuuughs! Also, if you look closely on Slit, you will see that he has a Glasgow smile similar to Heath Ledger's Joker, only that Slit has taken it to another level by cutting his face and then stapling the cuts back together. Also, one of the Brides (Toast the Knowing) is played by Zoe Kravitz, who later played Selina Kyle in Matt Reeves' The Batman. The director of this film was originally attached to direct a Justice League movie back in 2007, which was postponed completely because of the writer's strike at the time and, well, if you follow the DC Comics, you know the story. #RestoretheSnyderverse.

Ya it was after a nuclear holocaust and most water sources were contaminated by fallout, hence the rampant deformities. About the only people without some sort of radiation sickness were born before the war and were far enough out in the wasteland not to get affected by fallout. Immortan Joe was looking for the rare unaffected child in his offspring that didn't have cancer or deformities.

They made a mini-parody of Fury Road for DragonCon the year the movie came out. It's called Peachtree Road and is worth a watch for a chuckle.

The Mad Max films are only loosely connected. More of a character concept and setting theme than any kind of coherent canonical lore. The first movie was a huge success so they were able to get money for a second movie they were already thinking about making by slapping the name Mad Max on it and bringing back Mel Gibson. The franchise is steeped in the hot topics of the day. In the first movie there is just out of control crime - a popular subject in the '70s. In the second movie civilization has collapsed from petroleum shortages - a topic drawn from the "Oil Crisis". In the third movie there was a nuclear war - a popular topic in the '80s. In this movie all the surface water, including oceans, dried up due to some undefined man-made disaster - since environmental impact is a current hot topic. The time between movies is nebulous. The only date in the first movie is on an old sign saying a police station there was built in the '90s. Max doesn't seem to age much (original script for Fury Road had Mel Gibson reprising his role as an old man) while some characters act like they are generations into the post-apocalypse. Others act as though the apocalypse happened a few years ago. Fan theories trying to make the films fit together can be a fun rabbit hole.

Just correcting. The nuclear war happened before the events of the second movie. Not after. It was told in the Road Warrior's intro, just like the oil crisis before it. They both happened before the Road Warrior.(By the way, real world oil crisis happened in 70's and nuclear war was popular topic since 60's to 80's.) In the first film, social structures around the world were already collapsing. It was not explained in more detail, but the world was already falling apart. But yes, in that time George Miller didn't have any idea what Mad Max movies would turn to be later. Otherwise, you are right that Mad Max is not some carefully thought out saga with precise timelines and events. For George Miller, the most important thing was to make good films about the same theme. Movies that work as they are without having to think how well they fit into other movies. Fan theories are sometimes fun but the biggest mistake a viewer can make is rationalizing too much of Mad Max-movies. They are just a pop culture, pulp entertainment at its best.🙂
