I had originally planned on shooting it handheld like I showed in the behind the scenes but then I decided I wanted it to be more stable so I used the slypod Pro camera slider that you see in this video when I’m filming the zoom in on the hat shot.

The power of the iPhone 13 is amazing. I especially like the close-up function. Thanks for the useful explanation.^^

There isn’t any special technique. I showed you how to do it in the video and that’s all I know. Make sure you have lots of light. most of the shots were taken in the middle of the day in a slightly shaded area but there was lots of indirect light lighting the scene. other than that I don’t know what to tell you.

Can you do a edit tutorial on how you slow and then speed up the video and what that zoom pole was?

I use VN video editor on my iPad for the speed ramping and the motorized camera slider is called slypod pro and there is a link for it in the description

There’s really nothing to it. if you put your camera really close to an object it will focus on it automatically you don’t need to change any settings or do anything. just make sure you have lots of light

Are you zooming in too on the phone in real time? Or is that being done in post? It’s hard to tell.

I can tell you from experience here’s a short story hope you enjoy it back in September 2021 I got the iPhone 13 pro loved every bit of it except at that moment the size was too big to fit in the pocket so then April 2022 I went and downgraded to the iPhone 13 mini loved it everything but the camera that’s right the camera you zoom in the five all the way with the mini blurry so as of this past Thursday which was June 9, 2022 I traded in upgrade it back to the iPhone 13 Pro and here’s the main reason why camera you can zoom 15 times with this camera not just with the Mac Road thing but also if you do a 16 x 9 before you do any zooming that’s an extra like five extra zooms for free that’s pretty cool right there so anyway now you know why I upgraded back permanently did the iPhone 13 Pro weight from Apple and work from T-Mobile best cell phone carrier in the USA

Start close and go out and then reverse it in post of you want. Or switch it to the wide angle lens and then if you want to get more macro after you have already got your phone really close to the object you can digitally zoom in in post

Hello! Mine does not switch automatically to macro lens during approaching videos as you do with " hat" and "eye" example videos. Should be there settings to do that or maybe I move phone too fast? Thank you!

Yes you’re supposed to turn on “Macro Control” on Camera settings. It’s at the very bottom.

Thanks mate. Great Video. When you approached your eye to the camera the iPhone switched the lens which can be seen as a “jump” on the screen. But when you approached on your shoe e.g. I couldn’t see a rough switch of lenses. How is your opinion and experience about this ?

For both of those zoom shots I would start in close and then back away and it wouldn’t usually switch cameras. Though sometimes it did still switch cameras so this isn’t a perfect solution but it works sometimes. the other thing you can do is just switch to the ultra wide lens which is the macro lens to begin with and it will stay locked into that lens. The normal macro setting uses the Ultra Wide camera plus a bit of digital zoom so if you start out recording with the Ultra Wide camera it will be able to focus up really close and then you can add a bit of digital zoom in post and you’ll end up with the same result as if you just let the camera automatically choose lenses

The technique that I showed in this video where it automatically switched the camera to macro was well the camera was not recording. Although it should still auto switch during recording as well you might need to tap on the screen for it to adjust focus

Can you take a picture of the pixels of the screens?

Hello, there was a mistake in the camera lenses on my 13 pro max and I took it to apple and it was changed. My new 13 max works while taking macro photos, and when I get close to the object while shooting video, it gets blurry. I can't zoom and shoot video like in your video. Is this a problem again? Or is there a setting? I WOULD BE GLAD IF YOU HELP ME.

@@LukeEdwin good point with the light, thank you, I found in the camera settings something called formats where Apple ProRAW was off I turned it on and that seemed to solve the issue I was having.

Zoom out instead of in and then reverse it, That seems to help. What you can also do is set it to the wide angle lens that is the macro lens and then use digital zoom in post to get closer. That way it won’t be switching between lenses.

I did explain in the video. there’s no special settings you need to use. just use the regular video recording mode or regular photo mode and it’s going to automatically adjust

Great video and overview. Im trying to figure out why my 3x lens always looks like it is digital zoomed the photos and videos are grainy and looks artifacted from processing even before taking actual photo. Is this a thing or is my phone not working properly 😩 also when i try to do macro regardlessbif i have the auto macro option turned off the camera does a weird shift and im not exactly sure whag its switvhing to.

Are you using the iPhone 13 PRO? It doesn’t work with the regular iPhone 13

It's not a macro lens, it just uses the ultrawide lens to do macro photography

The macro mode would’ve been literally nailed by Cr🍎 if it had two features: A button so people can choose when to use it instead of leaving on the hard/software hands. That can be easily solved with a further upgrade tho❗️ Now a ring led around the lenses responsible for the macro in order to light it up, just like on the Oppo X3, that would’ve been mind blown, mainly under iOS camera, screen, etc. That unfortunately can not be changed with an update ☹️ Not to mention that it would’ve been an amazing selling factor for the product “take amazing eye shots” blah blah blah which is not something possible with the Oppo one where you literally have to touch the subject with the lenses. Macro photography is a beautiful world everybody loves but most of them just don’t know yet‼️

@@LukeEdwin To get that close, nice!! That is a really gentle spider. It's almost like its dead hahaha, unless it actually did lmao. But that's not really true macro which I've read needs to be centimeters away for the iPhone pro. The third pic is incredible though considering you got so close for but please don't try that with snakes lol. This actually proves of real photographer chops that would be capable of so much more without these limitations-- but anyway speaking on the results, you can get a similar effect of the spider on the pixel 6 pro with its telephoto lens and at a distance like shown here tbh: kzread.info/dash/bejne/nK1nt62JiLPWc9o.html I still want that bee macro tho

Nothing will beat oppo and their microscope camera

The problem with the oppo is that it is only taking 3 Mega pixel photos with the microscope camera. this iphone 13 is taking 12 megapixel macro photos. I haven’t compared them side-by-side but I’m going to guess that even if you had to digitally zoom in on the iPhone you’d end up with a pretty similar photo if not better.

No, it will automatically switch to the macro lens when you get it close to something. you don’t have to manually adjust any settings and it’s actually the ultra wide lens that’s the macro lens, so if you did want to manually put it in that lens you can but you don’t have to

Hahahaha I have the iPhone 13 pro since release and believe me guys - it’s by far not that easy to use this Makro feature. It’s so damn hard that it don’t makes fun and u will forgot about that feature very fast. Makro in slowmo? Doesn’t work at all.
