I have been thinking about macro for a while. funny that your video showed up, handed off some really good information, and has given me a nudge into the wonderful world of close up photography. Now I guess I'll be looking at lenses!

I have been reading some of the comments posted. While most are positive, several people have commented ‘this is not macro photography’, pulling the flowers etc. What is in a persons head when they post such things? Can they not just appreciate & admire the creativity which is been demonstrated? This is a really wonderful post, very well presented, clear & concise. Keep doing what you are doing, it’s wonderful.

First let me say how much I enjoyed your video. I know how you feel combining two things that you enjoy, the woods and photograph. At 68 years old and got my first camera in 1964, I've ran a lot of film and memory cards through cameras over the years. I enjoy seeing what others have found and share and you do this very well. And I'm not so old that I'm not still learning, love the tip at the end with the mirror and if I may add, turning it from the flat side to the concave I was able to take a low light picture by focusing the reflected light on the back of a flower with great success. Please continue, the world need more of your work.

we are (always) extremely careful and respectful when it comes to the environment and would never do damage in the name of a photo. I feel that this criticism is a bit out of context. But I do appreciate your shared concern for the environment.

That is more than a bit dramatic a comment on what was actually done in this nature photography advice.

this is really not a fair criticism. I appreciate your concern for the environment, but you can be very sure that we share the same respect for nature and would never do damage in the name of a photo.

Sorry but you defiantly do not need all that junk. You just need Camera, Lens and flash and diffuser. Shoot natural light and fill in flash perfect shot without the hassle. Get rid of all the junk will make you a better photographer trust me.

Thanks for your comment. We're obviously not implying that you need all these items to take great macro shots. Our target was to inspire other photographers to get into macro shooting (if they haven't already) by explaining and demonstrating a few interesting techniques and some of the equipment used by a professional macro photographer. If you can do better with less equipment - then congrats! You've reached photographer Jedi status! Thank you for watching and commenting nonetheless!
