Macrame Plant Hanger Without Ring (4 Easy Ways to Start!)
Learn 4 easy ways to start a macrame plant hanger (without a ring!) in this step by step tutorial!
The amount of rope or string these hanging loops will take depends on the thickness of your rope, and if it's 3 strand cotton or another type of cord like single strand or braided.
I used 4mm twisted cotton rope for these four examples.

One of them (the square knot loop) was a different brand of cord that's a bit more stiff than the others. Below are the rough measurements of what was needed for the hanging loop only.
Intro 00:00
▶︎ Wrapped Loop 00:15
- Main wrapping cord: 67" long
- Shorter wrapping cord for wrapping knot at the bottom: 20" long
▶︎ Overhand Knot Loop 02:00
- You'll need to add approx. 5" to the length of your working cords for the plant hanger
▶︎ Braided Loop 02:37
- You'll need to add approx. 5" to the length of your working cords for the plant hanger. Also, make sure the number of cords are a multiple of 3 if you're doing a 3 strand braid like I did.
▶︎ Square Knot Loop 03:26
- Working cord for square knots: 67" long
- Shorter wrapping cord for wrapping knot at the bottom: 20" long

I love the ist ,2nd and 4th braids
Started my first ever macrame planter combining this video with your "Macrame Plant Hanger For Beginners " video and it is going great. Thank you!
I love them all, but my favorite is the braided one too. Thank you so much for sharing this. It was a great format that was easy to understand! 😊
I love the braided one, not only does it look good, it provides added strength with very little additional bulk - which is important because many ceiling hooks I struggle to place the bulkier loops into.

Yea I agree, it’s one of my favorite methods! 😊
Braided and square knot are my favourite, thank you for sharing 🙏
Thank you for this tutorial! I never seem to have a ring when I feel like making a hanger. Just finished my second one and I love it!
Very grateful for your video 😊 I’ve used it to make 4 macrame hangers and I love trying out the different styles
This took long time to research and find! VERY HELPFUL and thank you!
I really like the square knot one. I don't have any rings and where I stay in South Africa, it's nearly impossible to get them. I want to try and make my very first plant hanger today so I'll use your method to making the loop. Many thanks!

Agreed! I got back into macrame from Crystal's channel. 🤗
OMG these are amazing. So simple to do and so effective. Saves buying the rings. I’m going to make a plant hanger straight away. I did a square knot loop without adding in the extra cord. Had trouble with my cords being too short, later down the project. This video is a game changer for me. 👏🤗👍 Much love from Devon UK x
Thank you ❤
I love the braided one and square not one and we'll, all of them really. 🤣🤗
Thankyou so much I have done my first ever homemade hanging basket and your video has helped with the rope :)
I like each one. But my favorite has to be the braided
So easy! Great tutorial, thank you!
This video was extremely helpful! Thankyou Marching North! I would love if you would do more macrame videos!
Thanks so much for this great video! I love all of them!❤
Thank you! This was an awesome tutorial
Very nice. thank you 💝
Love!
For the wrapped loop, how long should the wrapped part be? I want it to be in the center when it’s finished, but I’m not sure how far over to start.
I'm just beginning to do this. How would you incorporate those with the hanger?
I had my wooden ring brake and replaced with metal keyring
I have a question... if I would want to make a rope with this on either end for a hook to go through how would I put a loop like this on either end!
In your description of the wrapping knot do you mean 67, 20 inches or centimetres?
How long should the cords be for the actual plant hanger?

That depends on what type of plant hanger you’ll be making and what size cord. I have a few tutorials for plant hangers on my channel- check out this playlist: kzread.info/head/PLDlLTCHILDSD-5IGuyZu2L1NRP0rjlEmv
