MacKenzies Falls, Grampians, Victoria

MacKenzie Falls in The Grampians is one of the largest and most spectacular waterfalls in Victoria. The water cascades 35 metres down the rugged cliff face and plunges into a deep pool at the base of the falls. MacKenzie Falls flows all year round due to the water from MacKenzie River being released upstream at Lake Wartook.
It is a lovely area to enjoy the waterfall, relax and have a picnic in the spacious picnic grounds.
The Walk - 2 Kilometres return - 1 Hour - Moderate
The walk to MacKenzie Falls starts at the MacKenzie Falls carpark, and you follow the signs along the well-maintained track until you reach an intersection. At this intersection you can take a quick detour to see Broken Falls from the lookout, or continue to MacKenzie Falls. Along this track you will reach Cranages Lookout, where you can stop and enjoy lovely views of the cliffs and the MacKenzie River.
The track then begins to get narrower with lots of steps, there are over 250 steps to the base of the falls. Luckily there are handrails along this section and several places you can stop and view the falls on the way down. At the base of MacKenzie Falls you can walk across the large stepping stones and sit on the large section of bedrock and admire the falls.
