Machining Math Fundamentals: Pythagoras Theorem

Ғылым және технология

Marc from ‪@GCodeTutor‬ talks about how we can use the Pythagorean theorem to solve triangles.
Often as machinists, we need to solve geometric problems to calculate points of the path of our cutter. The go-to for most angles is to pull from our knowledge of trigonometry.
If we know the length of two sides of our right angle triangle, we can quickly calculate the length of the remaining side by using Pythagoras's theory. In this video, Marc gives us a refresher lesson on using this formula.

Trig tip: if you have problems remembering the sin, cos and tan and where do the terms hypotonus, adjacent and opposite fit in the formula just remember; "Sex On Holidays Causes A Headache To Occur After." Sin(a)=Opposite/Hypotonus, Cos(a)=Adjacent/Hypotonus and then Tan(a)=Opposite/Adjacent
