Machi Koro is a board game that people often play when being introduced to modern board games for the first time. Machi Koro is a dice rolling city building game where players buy establishments with different abilities that allow them to gain coins. Building a coin income engine is crucial for developing a good tableau and strategy. Players will be rolling dice, triggering income, purchasing new establishments all with the hope of being the first player to build three landmarks first.
Players who are familiar with the original game Machi Koro will be surprised to see the original game reimplemented in a much more cohesive and balanced way.

Looks good! I loved the original game, but it always felt just a little bit undercooked (like you said, so unpredictable and swingy!) Keen to check this one out!

It depends what sort of experience you are looking for. Machi Koro Legacy has a lot my variation but there are some rules introduced later in the game that do change it a lot. Machi Koro 2 is like a refined version of the original game. I would probably say Machi Koro 2 if I had to decide.
Coming here after playing Bright Lights, Big City at a board game night and being disappointed that it's a rare find without forking out big $$$. I appreciate your bright and humourous way of explaining Machi Koro 2 - I think i'll get this one instead :)

Yes Machi Koro 2 kinda tweaks the original rules and its actually a very cheap game to get

I just played yesterday and my group got confused about the landmark effect. The effect was: If you roll 12, get 8 coins (all player). Does this means that if i (the one who built it) roll 12, everybody get 8 coins. Or, everybody who roll 12, that person gets 8 coins (which means that the landmark modified the rules and it apply to anyone who roll 12)

I think it means all players. So whenever anyone rolls a 12, all players get 8 coins. Its the trade off for building the landmark. That landmark card helps other players earn cash too. :)
