Ashley Swindle true but then again when we meet James we learn he was promoted up and had to make a choice between Mac and the promotion and a promotion would mean more money and also Mac ended up working for his dad anyway without knowing it

@@Megz1794 In which episode does James say he was offered a promotion and had to choose between it and Mac as i can't remember it ? This is saying he chose a promotion with more money over his 10 year old son who he left an orphan and it still does not explain why he stayed out of Mac's life for 18 years until Mac is finally led to him by Mattie when he wants to quit The Phoenix. In ep 2x23 James first tells Mac that he left to keep him safe as he was gaining more enemies and thought they would come after Mac . Mac later says to his dad if this was the case then why did he manuvere him into the same line of work where he almost gets killed all the time. Then in Jonah Walsh's Compound Mac tells his dad he could have taken him with him and still protected him and this time his dad says that he was protecting him from him as he says that after his wife died he got angry all the time and he couldn't relate to Mac and that Mac looked so much like his mother that it just made him more angry. So all the while he has been manipulating Mac just like Jack and Riley when they start meddling for him to search for his dad.

I am just putting this out there but can anyone remember in the episode where Mac finally finds his dad James and learns that he and oversight are the same person that he tells Mac he left without a word because he was offered a promotion with more money and was forced to choose between the job and his child and he chose the job ? I have watched this ep countless times and the only reasons he gives are firstly when they are riding on the horses that it was to keep Mac safe as he was gaining more enemies and thought they would come after Mac and then in Jonah Walsh's compound when they have set fire to the room and Mac says he could have protected him by taking him with him his father says he was protecting him from him as after his wife died he got angry all the time and that he could not relate to Mac and that Mac looked so much like her and it just made him angrier. This is what i remember but not naming names someone is adamant he tells Mac he abandoned him because of a forced promotion with more money but are vague about which ep it is. To me the excuses he gives are bad enough but if he had told Mac he put a job promotion above raising his own child i would have hoped that Mac would have told him to go to hell and never come back as he had managed without him for 18 years and certainly did not need him now.
