I'm new to Ecamm and live streaming in general. It has been running great on my late 2011 Macbook Pro with High Sierra. I did max out the ram and the HD to SSD, but an a6400 camera and audio through a Scarlett 2i2 with simple overlays has given almost zero problems. Loving it so far!

I'm late for the live even but here my thoughts. I started using OBS, It was my base to learn about streaming and making my life easier to create content but never got to work as I wanted. Always having processing problems. I moved to Ecamm to try it and I really love it. It's a software just made for Apple computers and you can feel it. It works and looks perfectly with Apple environment. But I'm keep having problems when I try to share screen or app, use camera and layouts. I'm suffering of frame drops, to avoid this I have to give priority to frames instead of quality. I'm not streaming at more than 1080 (which is not bad but frame drop is very noticeable). I own a 5k iMac from 2017, I5 3'5Gzh, 16 RAM and 4Gb GPU. I'm thinking to upgrade my processor to the next level with a I7 but Apple and some users doesn't recommend to upgrade processors on an iMac by yourself + I don't want to spent more than 400$ if I'm not sure if that is going to solve my problem. My conclusion is that Mac are not the best computer for big loads of processing, If your case is looking to share screen or an application or a gameplay like me (big cpu usage) you should run that content from a different device like console or another pc and then use a capture card to bring the input to the computer where you have Ecamm. I'm talking without having experienced by myself how this gonna work but I rather buy a capture device (150-250$) before upgrading my iMac hardware for more than 500$. I didn't find people using Ecamm to streaming games (maybe because lack of games catalogue for Apple) but If someone has tried, could you share how is the experience? Good live by the way! Thank you.

Hi Magic Club Gaming! Yes, you're exactly right. We do not have a lot of gamers on our platform, but those who do are using a capture device to connect their console. You could jump into our Community at facebook.com/groups/ecammlive to chat with other members. Thanks! Katie

I’m starting an online BellydanceBurn live streaming course on zoom only for paid students and privacy. Since there’s only a certain amount of guest you can use via ecamm, but unlimited guest on zoom. Will I be able to see all of my students via zoom? I need to see all of the students to see if they’re using proper technique. I would love to use ecamm features with zoom to use intros, outros, logo, etc. to make my streaming more professional.

Hi Nadia! Yes, you could use Ecamm Live's virtual camera and bring your Ecamm Live video feed into Zoom for your course. Zoom would handle the call and/or live streaming, but your video would be coming via Ecamm Live. More on that here: support.ecamm.com/en/articles/3829692-using-ecamm-live-with-zoom

Hello and thank you! I'm not sure if this is the right place for asking for help, but I am desperate and I deeply appreciate any suggestion. I I've been using ecamm live pro for about a month now (on iMac 2017 /core i5+16mb ram) with a generic webcam and a Fujifilm XH1 camera and I mostly love it, but I have been struggling with two technical problems since the beginning and I haven't been able to find any solution for in your resources. I am streaming to Zoom twice a week (nothing fancy or heavy, just a few text, pics, and simple graphic overlays for my Creative Writing workshops.) However, ecamm crashes each time I start right at the beginning and then several times (every 10 minutes or so) during the sessions. I suspect that the problem is somehow caused by the use of my Fuji camera, because (now the second problem!) if my Fuji camera is not on already before I open ecamm program, it doesn't detect that camera source or doesn't display whatever the camera is taking; just black, and after each crash, I have to turn the camera off and back on before restarting ecamm. But if I don't try to use that camera (Fuji) after the crash and just use my webcam, then I can continue my sessions without any problem. I have tried closing all other programs on my mac and/or restarting it fresh before opening ecamm, but no lock. I need to use that camera at least for some parts of my sessions because I use a teleprompter on it for some long readings or lessons. I love what ecamm is capable of, but to be honest I've been thinking about getting a Windows pc and start using OBS instead (OBS on Mac has its own problems!) and it feels quite unfortunate (both, leaning ecamm live and being have to use Windows!) I've thought about adding more ram or even getting a newer, perhaps more powerful iMac, but I don't think that would solve this problem. I've even thought about getting another camera brand (Canon/Panasonic) as well, but I'm not sure if it can be a reliable solution. Sorry for the long note! I would very much appreciate your help, offering any suggestion in advance.

I'm still not clear on specs, as there is serious hesitation in simply stating what specs are needed to take full advantage of Ecamm. I'm not really interested in using the software for a simple single-camera setup. From what I think I'm hearing is this software requires a serious investment in a Macbook pro. Also a little frustrating that the host has not mentioned the specs of her computer that is struggling to run the live stream. Kind of feels the same as watching the VP debate the other night.

I too would like more detailed information on how, say, a lower-cost MacBook with only integrated graphics will limit the number of cameras, remote guests, etc Ecamm reliably stream. I don't expect exact precision; there are too many variables for that. But more info would be good.
