MA-VE Hydraulic Levelling System | Was it worth it?

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Spending a small fortune on Hydraulic Levellers was never in the #vanbuild budget - but after relocating a 2022 Fiat Ducato and sleeping on the worst angle we decided to go for it. Here is what happened!
In this video we share what happened when we had the MA-VE Hydraulic Levelling system installed on our Mercedes Sprinter 2023 AWD Vehicle.
We are Louise and Kelly, a married couple from Christchurch, New Zealand and this is Iceberg our new home. Back in 2020 we had a Mid “Covid” Life crisis and decided, like most of the world, to leave our jobs and do what we love. For us its travel and so we made a plan to being full time travelling by 2024. (It was 2022 - but that’s another story!)
Follow along as we prepare the van, house, belongings and savings because trust us …..it doesn’t take two weeks (like most portray) to quit your job, sell your belongings and hit the road, as we are finding out !

    We are wondering ourselves, while building the van. We hadn’t used them for quite a long time since our van is getting built, however, found they worked perfectly. It’s been a year where we have hardly used them and a service is up already. 😁👏 thank you so much for messaging all the best.

    We have this on our Motorhome, wouldn't be without it. Manual operation works better than auto to deal with uneven ground. Stackable blocks also work well under the feet, more blocks under the low parts. Also you can lift all feet up a little by pressing up, then the manual button to interrupt.

    Yes, we have the stackable blocks ourselves. We can’t wait until we are doing this full-time where we will be using the hydraulics daily.

    We've had on going problems with this levelling system. After 4 attempts by professionals to get it working properly. (2 we're done by Apollo) and still not working. Our motorhome is currently sitting in our driveway up on the rams and they won't retract, so we are now staying in a motel for the weekend instead of our motorhome. Not happy at all

    The systems I’ve read about actuate and the jacks look for the shortest distance from Jack to ground. Once that jack is down the others extend to level to that one. Not sure I’ve seen this brand before.

    Yes, that is correct, we are currently having a custom build inside & outside our vehicle, and haven’t been using them yet. Our vehicle may not be ready for quite a number of months yet. However, excited to be using them in the coming months

    Hello from Portugal! Have you been pleased with the levelling system?

  • @louiseandkelly

    @louiseandkelly

    Wow, Portugal a place we want to go to one day. We are still custom building our van and to be very upfront and honest won’t get the full use of it until the van build is finished. It’s very expensive and we have had to put blocks underneath it, which means we have to carry them in the vehicle. We do, however, have a separate engineer, looking at a design to fold up the legs so that we don’t knock them when we are off road. Are you looking at getting some yourselves?

  • @wendybacheart
    @wendybacheart6 ай бұрын

    Hmmm seems more trouble than it’s worth and you have to store the blocks in your build, that’s a lot of space.

    We totally agree, we couldn’t believe that we had to get blocks made on top of the hydraulics having being built. The hydraulics can’t be shifted up any higher, but our engineer thinks he might have a way that he can fold the legs up out of the way so they don’t get knocked.To be fear it is a very costly exercise that we haven’t been able to use just yet. We do hope they will help us sleep well and cook well.

    You lift kit basically means this kit is useless as the hassle to put under all the blocks takes away the reason for having the system. In my opinion the company should have explained its not compatible with a lift kit.

  • @louiseandkelly

    Thank you we totally agree with you, a huge disappointment that the company never ever explained this to us. Our problem is where the heck are we going to put these big thick blocks. Yes it works well with the blocks after we’ve put rope through the blocks to make it easier to pull out from underneath.Our concern is nighttime snow, rain, etc. having to get out and place them in the correct spot. As a Positive they do work extremely well when the blocks are in place now. Also if we had to drive off if somebody was threatening us makes it disappointing, having to leave our blocks behind. Let’s hope that we will get a good nights sleep with it being level. 😜🌿

    Hello from New Zealand ! Our van is still only able half built so we haven’t really had the opportunity to try them in real life situations. We do however know that they are going to be too low for offloading. Our engineer has a plan to potentially fold the hydraulics up and out-of-the-way when not in use. this is the only system we have available in New Zealand. We are very limited here!!!
