I wish I could play like they warm up. It's such a great feeling to crack the ball at that pace. So fun.

This match is better than any Jedi fight, maybe the greatest match of all time. Ma Lin is the true legend of table tennis as a player then as a captain of team China who rules over the world of ping-pong since twenty years. Ma Long is the best tennis player of history but that not enought against Ma Lin the wizard ;) The public was lucky.

This is the best of the best of MA Lin. Beating MA Long who is a solid player rarely anyone can beat is MA Lin greatest accomplishment. According to statistic information, MA Lin beat more than 88% of the time against his opponent. He is the greatest of all time. Play 7 times in world championship game and won 4 world championship, 1 Olymbic Gold, won single, double, and team champion for gold which no one has done. He play since 5 for about 30 years and retired, but did come out for exibition show game afterward.

Totally agree with the point of this being the best of the best of Ma Lin. But according to statistics in ITTF official page, Ma Long has a 93,5% win percentage. Ma Long only needs 1 Olympic Crown to be better than Ma Lin, sadly for his fans. Ma Lin had his time. Now is the time for Ma Long and Xu Xin (although I personally think that Xu Xin will low his rythm) and soon will be Fan Zhendong time ;)

Never been world champion singles. Surely if you are the greatest you should have won that. Wang Liqin won it 3 times. Waldner 2 times + olympics as well. Ma LIn is a fantastic player and a legend but not the all time best.

It's simply a brilliant game for both players. Ma Lin is obviously seen much more mature and calm very experience, he succesfully explored his mental strength against the raising star Ma Long who at the end must admitted the best of Ma Lin. Very amazing and interesting game.

Ma Long did find out the weak spot of Ma Lin at the beginning: Ma Lin's entire right side ! However, for some reason, Ma Long did not follow through to the rest of the game. Any way, I have learned something here that if you can put the pen-holder aggressor to his left and attack his right empty side with a surprise. Poor Ma Lin, great player as he was, never won the WTTC Single Title. If I am correct, 3 times runner-up. Nevertheless, he defeated Waldner back in 1999 in the WTTC semi-final as a new player. Since then, he became the table tennis maestro for many years. However, I think he did not peak at the right time and lost to Wang Li Qin twice in the WTTC finals. He also lost to Liu Guo Liang in the 1999 WTTC Final.

Ma Lin has a deceptive bottom spin serve, where he immediately follows up the chop/slice by quickly flipping the racket and delivering a false top spin. The result is a chop serve that looks like top spin. It fooled the commentator consistently, and Ma Long once or twice.

A young Ma Long made a lot of judgement mistakes which I think that wouldn't happen after 2015. This match reminds me of how the Dragon lost to Wang Hao at both WTTC semifinals. The Dragon is confused by the speed and spin variations from an old and wily Ma Lin.

Because the hand holding the racket will sweat, even a little will make the racket not tight. You can't always return to the rest area to wipe your sweat with a towel. So touch the table where the ball is hard to reach, you can remove that "a little" sweat.
