M83 today shares a new video for “My Tears Are Becoming A Sea.” A standout track from M83’s celebrated 2011 double album Hurry Up, We’re Dreaming, the video for “My Tears Are Becoming A Sea” is a prequel to the record’s magical and captivating video trilogy comprised of “Midnight City,” “Reunion,” and “Wait.” Watch the video here.
The initial trilogy chronicled the adventures of supernatural children on the run from forces wishing to capture them in order to study their powers. This new video is directed by Sacha Barbin and Ryan Doubiago and produced by Division.
Reflecting on the prequel’s concept and revisiting the trilogy’s storyline, Barbin and Doubiago say, “this story takes place 10 years earlier in order to highlight the first moment one of these children uses their supernatural gifts. On the way to the hospital and moments before his birth, the child’s parents are victims of a horrible car accident. The unborn child is forced to use his powers to save them from within the womb. The idea was to show the literal birth of a superhero. We wanted to place this story in a realistic and universal setting. We think that the panic created by this magnificent moment speaks to everyone. We also wanted to pay homage to the mothers who are too often absent from the mythology of superheroes. And finally, to go beyond the codes of the genre to carry a symbolic message of hope where future generations would come to save us from a dark fate.”

Not many people know that. M83 stands for Messier 83, a spiral galaxy in the constellation Hydra. M83 Group, a group of galaxies centered around Messier 83. When you know this fact then M83 music and videos make even more sense. I can’t stop thinking about universe, space and stars every time I hear M83 music. Its like you floating in space.

one similar "barcelona - absolutes", the full album, there are like 3~4 songs with this vibe ("First Floor People", "Falling out of trees", "get up", "please don't go", especially these), if you like, Brian Fennell is one of the members and He made some songs in his solo career in this style, enjoy :)

People will never know how much this song means and the irony. My son began doing Astrophotography with me. It’s my passion and how I deal with Combat PTSD and I also help other veterans by learning how to image deep space. I was overjoyed that he began this hobby with me. And we bonded closer than ever before ( I’m slowly drifting to you) He had helped me set up many times but in July he took His first image, it was pillars of creation, m16. We had actually planned to image M-83, the Pin Wheel Galaxy) at a later time but unfortunately we will never get to do it together. I made a video of that night he imaged for the first time. He had been doing so well in recovery our Father and Son bond was finally back all the way and even better. We had drifted apart some due to addiction but our relationship was fully restored over the past 20 months. On August 18th 2023, my world was rocked and it still is. He took something for the fist time in over 20 months and it took his life just a month after we made this video. I don’t like the word overdose because that’s not what he did. He had just taken such a small amount, but it was lethal, it killed him. This song is used in the movie Solace in that movie a man grieves the loss of his daughter at a young age. Irony? I’m on my way son, I’m on my way 💔 fb.watch/n2KB6HcfV9/?mibextid=cr9u03

Well, I heard that in animation, for example, the music is created earlier than even the animatik. And in this case, the song was recorded as far back as 2001, and the video in 2021. This video is a prequel to a trilogy of music videos ("Midnight City", "Reunion" and "Wait") and these three music videos are also great, although they were created much earlier. In general, this particular prequel was created in Kyiv, because it so happened that this industry has developed well in Ukraine, and it is not so expensive to order such a clip. This can be seen by the level at which clips of Ukrainian bands weare created, such as: Antitila ("And you start", "Кіно", "Hello"), Один в каное ("У мене немає дому"), Onuka ("Zenit", "Strum", "Голос води"), The Hardkiss ("Коханці", "Мелодія", "Кобра", "00:00").

This song makes me feel something that I feel I have lost. My best friend had shown me this after me not having listened to it in years. Today I cried when I listened to this song just because of how much it reminded me of her and her importance in my life. I love this girl so much, more than I love myself. I wish that we could be more than friends, in a relationship, or something more just because of how much she has impacted my life and the way I live. I wish to tell her all the things that are on my mind when I see her, when I call her, when I hug her, when I see her name pop up on my phone even after we’ve been texting all day. She’s taught me how to start loving myself by showing me what love means. I’m taking time for myself to figure myself out and hopefully I can make her happier than I ever was, can, and will be. Because if she is happy then I’m happy.

It represented such an amazing time, experiences, and just innocence of what it was to be a child. I met my friends with this song ten years ago, and as this song gets older, so does our friendship. But the album never ceases to amaze me, and it still impacts me just like the first day I listened to it, aging beautifully. Thank you M83 for being here and making music that I identify my life with and I hold so close to my heart. Love from Texas ❤️💚

This MV makes me cry every time I see it. Such an emotional roller coaster. What a talented group of musicians. I first heard about them a decade ago with the Oblivion soundtrack when the guy who used to make "Did. You Hear the New Mixtape?" was still compiling his fave indie tracks on his website. I guess that was also when I was addicted to finding new English-language indie music via the Hype Machine, before I got addicted to kpop lol. I recently found my old 2012 iPod Shuffle which had M83's Oblivion track saved to it, and remembered the good ol' times when I listened to this style of music. No matter how the times change, I can still return to these classics again and again and still enjoy it. Thanks, M83, for bringing me the soundtrack of a generation. I'm always impressed by your creativity and epic artistic sense.

I think I have an explanation of the stuff happening in the video. I apologize in advance if there's some grammar errors, english ain't my first language. I think the baby is one of the children from the Midnight City music video, I have three reasons: 1- The scene of the accident. You can see that the mother's belly starts to glow mid air and the car slowly starts to spin and levitate as it lands safely on the ground. That was the kid saving his parents. 2- The color of the baby's eyes, is similar or equal to that of the children of Midnight City. 3- In the part where the toy starts to float, I thought that was the father that died in the accident but as you can see he appears at the end when someone knocks on the door. So that was the baby . Now, I have a theory of who might be knocking on the door at the end. I think it's the government or some sort of secret group looking for the baby. So yeah, that's my explanation or theory. Have a great day people

I think this is the first song/video to ever make me feel emotional, scared and happy at the same time. Watching it a handful of times now and I still shiver every time.

I have been listening to this song constantly in the past two months and every time my shuffle brings it on, it just reminds me of how beautiful life is, no matter how complicated and hard it seems to be, we're just so lucky to be here, to be alive and able to feel and breathe. There's always hope, there's always a light at the end of every tunnel, and most certainly there's always a sunrise after every sunset so keep breathing. Thank you guys for your music, it means the world to me.

Take some back to wild nights, early morning walks with friends in the woods and the knowing that I’ll never have those times again the same way. Enjoy every minute of life, the most amazing gift we all received. Life is EPIC!!

This song will forever be connected to a moment for me. I was sitting on Tempelhofer Feld in Berlin, with the best company I could have wished for in that moment, a warm breeze, a blanket, a bit of lights and feeling warm and completely relaxed for the first time in years.

little baby eyes at the end looking like the glowing eyes of the children in Midnight City made me go nuts. I love how they all connect in some way. IMO
