Just for safety reasons, I'm making this comment. 1. If you feel the ground shaking DO NOT WALK OR RUN! Crawl! You can become disorientated and fall and possibly injure yourself. 2. Find a place such as a door way, an open field, or a study desk to take cover under that is away from any over hanging objects. Stay away from exterior of large buildings, such as skyscrapers. The ground movement can cause windows to become dislodged and hurdle towards the ground along with any debris from the building. 3. Have a bag with canned foods, water, first aid kit, can opener, flashlight with extra batteries, matches, etc etc all in a water proof container such as a zip lock bag. Especially if you live in an area where tsunamis are a threat. You will possibly need this bag if the power goes out or you are forced to evacuate. Having a blanket in there wouldn't hurt either. This bag can be used in any sort of emergency event. 4. Most importantly, stay calm and pay attention to your surroundings. Watch your step and pay attention to power lines (if your country has them). I hope all are safe and much love comes your way❤️

Looks pretty serious but let's not forget most buildings in Japan are designed to 'sway along' a bit when the ground shakes, that's why they can withstand these earthquakes. A rigid building would crack and then collapse, these buildings are more flexible so the shaking is actually good in a sense.

The software that the Shinkansen uses detects the P-wave, the blue circle that you see in the screen that travels faster than the S-wave, witch is the shaking that we all feel, and as soon the P-wave is detected, the Shinkansen's software immediately activated the brakes to fully stop the train and it is thanks to this that until now, there's been no fatalities in more than 50 years after the Shinkansen started to travel.
