Real owner, real build and really nice!

The wheels are not from a E36 M3. Are from E46 with the M pack.

Yup, the E36 wheels he confused them with are called Forged M Double Spokes. I know they came on the M3 lightweight and I guess as a wheel option for the regular M3.

Yeah, Matt was totally on point with that. So many e36s have them that the owner must have assumed they were meant for the car.

yeah, 17" staggered. They weren't my fave, but they looked really cool when you get close, pretty deep looking. Definitely stock with that year's MSport package. I see them around town semi regularly.

So much nicer looking these Bimmers compared with today's production.

I live here in N. Italy (I'm American) and I whole heartedly agree with you! I think the 2010 models were as future looking as they needed to go. The actual steel/chrome bumpers were nicely done and....RWD + manual transmission + driving skill=😃 Oh and the cops here in Italy have no radar in their cars....it's normal to drive 55mph in a 30mph or 95mph in a 75mph. I love these roads!!!

Thank you! Seems like every E30 video or message board post devolves into "I hate new BMWs because..." territory. I own an E30 and F30 and I love them both for different reasons.

Car sounds perfect. Not too loud and not too quiet. Just right.

The only reason why I started watching this video is that it's not another LS swap

dirty thirty People are gonna switch the stock suspension out anyways I don't think that matters. Just get a cheap 318. Same chassis just different motor

It's a German Fox body. This is how BMW should have done it in '86.

lol, well that's because a Rolex is a nicer watch. Think of it this way, he can go out there and say that the BRZ for example is a great little sports car for the money and an awesome buy, but if you have a 911 at home in the garage, what are you actually going to drive given the choice?

You guys forgot to mention the M60B40 is also in the E32, have it in my 740iL, surprisingly provides a great amount of power to pull that 5200 pound tank. Can't imagine how much fun it would be in that lightweight E30, great build!

Love the e30, love the fact y'all built it ourselves and love the fact u didn't spend 10s of thousands to do it! Thanks for sharing!

What a sweet little Toy. Clean, tastefully understated and low-key, seems to have been created for driving enjoyment rather than showing off. Cleanup the interior a bit, add power-brakes and I would absolutely consider daily-driving this instead of my M5. Great Car Chris!

I have a V8 Swapped 1987 E30. Best thing I have ever done to my E30. It's a freaking rocket now. I basically did the same thing he did, with a M60B40 from a 1994 540I, Getreg 420g 6 speed out of a 2001 540i, and a 3.24 LSD out of a 2002 Z3M.

Great vid Matt... and an absolute big well done to Chris for building his own car essentially.

I like this guy, knows his stuff and has done a great job keeping an E30 alive.

This is what I dreamt of doing with my old E30 back in 2000 when I lived in Germany near Heidelberg. Good on ya young man.

Check out the widowmaker video on carthrottle. That's a wicked fucking E30. Not hating on this e30 at all, but the widowmaker is the king of modded BMWs.

You mentioned Akebono brake pads. I once tried them on my Jetta and must not have had the right type of pad. They were the right part number but they seemed to take longer to stop the car than the ones I had. I took them off and got a set of Stop Tech para aramid pads that are slightly better than OEM for stopping. I think they are even advertised as being more fade resistant and fading is a very common thing with many brakes.

I drove a stock e30 325i years ago (except it was lowered a bit) It was some of the best fun I had in car at the time. I can't imagine how amped up it would be with a V8. But it must be scary fast.

I think I've seen that one at a car show actually. It has a Corvette engine. Just search "Starion Corvette Engine" and you'll see it immediately. It just doesn't have the massive rear wing on it in the video and the decals aren't exactly the same now either is different. And that vent on the side is black now, but it's definitely the same car.

Quite why anybody thought that a widow-maker needs more power beats me! I had a 325i and it tried to kill me every time it was driven on slightly damp roads! It would try to swap ends in a heartbeat. I can only assume is in a hurry to get killed by it! Great car in the dry, lethal in the wet! Lost count of the amount of bends I went around backwards.

Love his work.. But dude post that conquest!!!!.. I need n waiting for that!

I really think BMW has a fairly timeless style actually the Mercedes of that era look great as well I swear one more of these videos and I'm going to end up buying one

@@clayp.e30_v86 They never came on the E36. The E36 M3 5 spokes received on Euro cars were the DS2's. The North American market and a few others received the DS1's
