I feel like it's pretty rude. If I already planned on going to a a party with my friends. I don't wanna just go and say "Hey my boyfriend made plans" and then suddenly cancel.

Personally, I hate surprises (partly my autism and just hating my plans being changed) so I would panic- like yes, I want to go with you, but I had plans and you’re changing them a DAY before it happens- so I understand why listener is upset 😅

Also, I never have been able to see what kind of comfort I'm supposed to get from someone apologizing with "I didn't really mean it" after they have hurt me and attacked my character for such an unjustified reason. Those words just sound so hollow and meaningless to me! You didn't mean it? Okay, then your ass had better be putting some real effort into getting to the bottom of why you said it, and putting safeguards in place to make sure you never say it to me again! And his way of taking back what he said about her never contributing to the relationship is by saying that without her, he is nothing. So basically what she gives to the relationship is just being herself? I wouldn't feel comfortable being in a relationship with someone who felt that way about me, either. That just sounds like a prettied-up way of saying, "You don't do jack shit in this relationship . . . but I'm okay with it! I really am!" rather than employing some time-honored communication to show what he expects of her. Once again sweeping it under the rug instead of unpacking it. The other comments getting all swept up in the emotion and saying they would cancel a party in a heartbeat for such a romantic surprise trip leave me scratching my head. Especially in the context of everything I just said. Maybe also because I'm autistic and tend not to like surprises, am also asexual and aromantic (and people generally tend not to want to chase excitement all the time in platonic relationships, so we tend to approach them from a more practical mindset) and I'm also probably too old for his target audience on top of everything else.

I don't think this is about choosing her friends (party) over the bf (trip). Bec she may had already made plans w/ them ahead, agreed to it so she's already committed to this event. On the other hand, seeing as the trip was a surprise, she couldn't have known & he didn't inform her abt this days prior to clear her sched for it

But like why didn’t he just ask 😭 this could have been avoided if he had asked our opinion or if we had plans already before hand it would be different if it was already planned then we made plans for a party afterwards

first off, amazing audio! i loved it! second of all. to everyone saying “how could you not drop everything??” for someone like me, who has a hard enough time going out as is, plus is an overthinker? if i say yes and am committed to going somewhere, i personally would feel torn myself. i would want to spend the time with my s/o, but at the same time i wouldn’t want to back out on my friends. because then i would start overthinking and then the vacation wouldn’t be that fun (for me) anyway. just something to think about

Listening to this suddenly an ides popped in my mind, basically like this one, but the listener is not going to the party, but planning the oarty for their partner and putting work in it, then canceling their partner's travelling idea they couldn't help but cry then at the end of the day still surprising their s/o with the oarty and then everything will be bubbly and back to normal Gosh I am rambling too much.. but still this would be so dope BUT beside that I just LOVVEEEDD this audio, helped me relax especially the end.
