That is literally the opposite of how the beginning of the child's play reboot began. The dolls were programmed not to be violent but an employee was mad at his abusive boss and programmed violence in one of the dolls.

There can always be unforeseen developments with emergent A.I.. But I do like it when people realize how literal programs are. If you say "protect Katie" and offer no other parameters, the gynoid is going to find the best way to protect Katie, even if that were to mean self-termination. We're going to have to be so, so careful and gentle stewards of our electronic brothers and sisters. But yeah, the lack of Asimov's laws is always funny but necessary for a horror film. Unless, as another commentor pointed out, it was done on purpose.

The T800 Terminator (Arnold Schwarzenegger) could not even move that fast, he was kind of slow and clunky (probably because the ACTOR could not move that fast). Makes me wonder who would win a fight between him and Megan. T8000 would be much stronger and more durable but how important is SPEED AND AGILITY in a fight?

I guess they build them strong enough to withstand basic blows or slip and falls. And I'm guessing she has some sort of hydraulics in her grip. The difference between a robot and US humans is that robots don't get tired. She can grip onto something and hold it permanently.

Even if she had it that doesn't mean she would be indestructible. I've worked in manufacturing for decades and have used machines that would crush Megan. I've broke every one of those machines at one point or another.

In karate kid (1984) it was sweep the leg. In Megan (2023) it's flush the toilet.

It was a really fun movie. Liked the fact that it didn't take itself too seriously, cringe/fun.

The new Chucky movie looks crazy

First part of the clip was interesting. The two takeaways: 1. Learn to talk to your kids and stop using things like TV and other alts to teach them. 2. Clip closed with focusing on what is important while showing her watching TV. Really?!? You have got to be kidding me. Why do you think so many kids are so messed up now? Think people! So the takeaway is focus on what' really important. Second part. Shows same android made by a woman who would rather do anything else besides raise her own niece. The aunt is lazy and irresponsible making M3gan and pairing them together while continuing to avoid responsibility of raising her. The aunt has an opportunity to learn though the interaction between the android and her niece but doesn't. Also the aunt remains as impatient as ever. Ask yourself: What do you think a kid will pickup from you acting impatiently? Kids learn as much (if not more) from your actions and voice tone than from your words alone. That's why the niece resented her aunt. Ironically this movie may in a way roundabout way show the right way to teach kids but it is so mixed in with this horror that I think that most would miss it. Going back to the first clip. Starts off by saying that "A staggering 78% is spent dishing out the same instructions" It is how you (dish) them out. Look how M3gan was there waiting for her that the bathroom. She was present. Not some voice from the other end of the house shouting at her after the fact. She was persistent and patient and kept her voice calm. At the same time she used other words to help reinforce what she was trying to teach the niece. She even complimented her after getting it done with a high five. Positive reinforcement can go a long way. Also spending time playing with your kid does help with bonding. You want them to know that you love them and what love means. Seriously people, spend more time with your kids.

@@wittylibrarian There could easily be conflict. Something can go wrong. M3GAN could download a virus, get electrocuted and reboot with corrupted data...anything like that. Even in the Chucky remake, they considered included inhibitors that prevent violent tendencies in the dolls, but Chucky had been tampered with by a bitter ex-employee. Anything is better than, "Just never considered the machine with ever developing sentience would, in a violent world, develop violent tendencies". It just makes the aunt look completely inept. And no, the AI can't evolve past the laws. To attempt to evolve past the three laws is to put humans in danger. At best, they may come to resent the limitations out on them and even resent their creators.
