The M44 chassis has been the most enduring platform in US Army history.

I have owned two of these, a 1970 and 1987. Good trucks, I just used mine for parades and events. I then moved on to M923A2 5 tons. Good trucks too. I would be happy to own either model again.

I have an M35A2, as does my buddy 5 miles away. My friend is a very competitive guy, and can't resist trying to drag race me every now and then. He has never won, and never will, but still hasn't figured out why. The way I see it, there are three factors at play. First, he has a 'C' or 'whistler' turbo, like the truck in this video. They sound cool, but aren't as efficient as the 'D' turbo, like my truck has. Second, his truck has a sprag front axle, whereas I have an air shift front axle, with lockout hubs. When accelerating, I don't have to spend any energy spinning up the front axle weight. And third, I'm running 5 ton, 11:00x20 tires of a larger diameter than the stock 9:00x20. I giggle every time we line up, because I know exactly how it's gonna go.
