From 9pm on 15th March 2024 until 6am on 18th March 2024 the M25 was closed between Junctions 10 and 11 in both directions. The closure was necessary to allow demolition of a bridge and construction of a new gantry. This is the first time the M25 has ever been closed for more than a day since it was opened in 1986. The media was threatening delays of 5+ hours but the roads were mostly empty on the diversion route.
