I could listen to Mr. Levinson all day. I used to be somewhat intimidated by him probably because of the lack of interviews/videos about him, but now realize just how knowledgeable and down to earth he really is. The Levinson name will aways be synonymous with very high quality products.

I admire his contributions to the audio world. But these are for the privileged few within that world. I would be happy just to be able to listen to these once in my life.

:.( It saddens me when industry professionals that so many look up to and trust still misrepresent digital audio with their fundamental misunderstanding of how digital sampling works, such as his statements beginning at 13:38 ! I'd honestly like to hear much more about exactly what this "C-wave" technology is and how it supposedly works, rather than this hyperbole, as digital sampling Does NOT "leave any spaces" in the music that need to be "filled in". :-/ I'm sure that these loudspeakers are incredibly impressive and would probably reduce me to tears of joy when listening to some of my favorite recordings. But FFS, after 40+ YEARS of digital music reproduction, can we please just leave out the crap about how digital audio sampling is "stair-stepped", or "jagged", or "leaves gaps in the music" between each sample point?!?! I'm sorry, but I literally LOL'd when Mark said something to the effect of "Digital Music Isn't Fun". :-P But the "MARIA" is a digital streaming & WiFi device, and the PCB itself indicates that it relies on DSP. How much more "digital" can it get? 🤷‍♂️ I haven't seen a better video that demonstrates how untrue this blatant misunderstanding of digital audio sampling and reproduction is than the KZread video titled, "D/A and A/D | Digital Show and Tell (Monty Montgomery @ xiph org)".

Sample rate will be ever remain as a limitation factornwithin digital music reproduction. Its a necessity that is normally not present in real life music. 44khz 16bit is still the highest equlibrium quality that can be achieved. Because you get highest dynamic range, lowest noise, best freq response bandwidth as a whole. If you lowering something or increase a number the outcome will be trash. But Daniel Hertz is here to give us Masterclass with A+ that could help out the pcm digital source signal to sound more lifelike. Read the book: history of the idea of progress by robert nisbet. We have forgotten to make good sound with digitalization, but we still have to make it work with some trickery, because LPs are dead.

Sir im new to hi fidelity and I can say I have so much respect for you and all you’ve done and I’m sure I don’t even know half of your contribution I do know watching your videos that music touches you the way it does me emotion is sound and you figured it out so I can only hope one day I can hear the Maria m1 combo because i would be honored and frankly lucky because I probably wouldn’t ever be able to afford it That’s not saying it’s not worth it because I’m sure it’s worth 10 times the price, so thank you for all you’ve done and again I hope one day I could at least hear just a snippet of what that system can do because it makes me emotional hearing you explain it sorry I went on and on thank you for all you’ve done and will do

Great job , from a sensitif artist genious, to bring truthfull music experience , i agree with that idea of moving air , with barely cone movement , so no linear distortion ...obeing the laws of soundwaves ...the bass experience of a 18" , and the human voices from a 12" ....biampt...thats top

I wish you offered a version we could aquire. I suppose we will have to settle for The Axxess Forte 1. Though we would rather own Daniel Hertz. I have seen many of your reviews; I especially respect your philosophy of honesty which is at odds with the industry overall. You rock!

Geez, I have 18" woofers with a passive crossover at 85 Hz with superb bass definition. Still having said that I do believe active electronic crossovers are ultimately superior to passive crossovers.

Mark Levinson made some of the best amps in the 80’s. I had tremendous respect for his products. However, his foray into Rose Audio selling “modified” cheap Chinese amps for 6x the original cost, Erwin Bobcat digital software that made digital sound like smoothed over MP3 files, etc were nothing but disappointing. I would not trust anything he’s pushing, especially this active speaker powered by class D amps. At $200k the M1 system isn’t for anyone except for the filthy rich.

I admire your products, BUT ...there are speakers that MOVE lots of air and produce pretty close to the captured vibes. The amp, and what it does promises to be AWESOME 🙂 I also agree the 'better the less approach' ALL in one system. The more components like connectors, wires and other electronics we insert in the signal chain the more ADDITIONAL flavor is created and changes the original event recorded.

Try listening to a recording of the sea through your equipment, not white or pink noise, but the sea with waves crashing, the occasional gull flying buy and the scum breaking as it draws back, you will really know if your system makes the grade. I have never heard anyone whomever the designers were that can do this faithfully and convincingly, you just cannot create the distortionless dynamic range or frequency response.. When you get that right, come back here and tell us all about it. You may convince me that your system can produce music. At this moment, you are like a peacock bragging that he is the most beautiful bird.

Sure ... the M1 system is for you ... if you love music and have 200 large just lying around. [smh] Funny thing, too: for the last 40 years, my speakers, being first Quad ESL-63s, then Martin-Logan reQuests, have been driven by a pair of Mark Levinson ML-2s! They sounded great 40 years ago and they still sound great NOW.
