M1 MacBook Air Long Term Review - An easy choice in 2022?

Ғылым және технология

The M1 MacBook Air is a great laptop if you're upgrading from an older Intel MacBook Air, or even an older 13" MacBook Pro. If you're considering the M1 MacBook as your main laptop for 2022 and beyond, this is my no-nonsense long-term review!

Do you use the MacBook Air's screen for lengthy (3+ hours) work sessions, or do you always hook up to a larger monitor? Thanks. I'm so used to either 22"+ sized monitor, or at least a 15.4" on a MacBook Pro, that I'm somewhat concerned about detailed work (sound editing in Adobe Audition, or white-board animation - video and audio edits) on a smaller screen. Have a blessed day.

Honestly for me, it’s a mixture of both, but personally I’m not the biggest fan of smaller screens either, which is one if the main reasons why I upgraded to the new 16” MacBook Pro. If you’re going to be doing more demanding tasks or your applications will benefit from being used on a larger screen, especially if you’re not always going to be using an external monitor, the smaller display on the MacBook Air probably won’t do you any favours. Hope this helps!

@@RamalMedia Thanks for sharing your experience(s) about working on a small screen. The reason I selected the MacBook Air is for its portability and more than sufficient power. As well I have a 7-in-1 dongle arriving with with it, very soon. However, even after careful (somewhat hyped) consideration, far too many hours of "research", I decided that $5000 for computing capability far exceeding my needs, is almost silly. However, if I were to buy MBP with M1, I would surely Max it up (pun intended of course). For the few months at least, I'll be connecting to a larger monitor, when not on the go. Of course, I'll only be able to answer any of these concerns, after actually using the MBAir, which arrives tomorrow. At least I know I'll enjoy the speed and efficiency of what is for me a serious upgrade/update. From a late 2011 2.2GHz quadcore i7 16GB ram 2TB SSD 15.4" running El Capitan, I'm likely to be amazed! 😄I have very little cloud-based software, so we'll see how I do with updating drivers, rather than having to re-purchase. And now another thank you (for your patience), to conclude what is certainly one of my longest reply comments every made. Have a wonderful day.

Just received mine last week. It is my first time using macOS and i think M1 macbook air is more than sufficient for normal office use; mainly using Word, Excel, Powerpoint and web browsing. Prefer this design over the rumoured 2022 macbook air with white bezel & keyboard.

Marketing… Apple already has the new MacBook Air 2022 since March 2022. Perhaps, they had a lot of MacBook air 2020 in stock. They need as much as possible to sell the old model.

I feel like people sell these laptops really short - you can do a hell of a lot more with it than "normal, everyday" tasks with a stock M1 air. Why spent 1k+ on a laptop to check your email? 😂
