The funniest part is that Galactus has *other* Heralds, a good chunk of them being female. So there literally was NO REASON to gender swap Silver Surfer outside of using the character to spread *the message*

Disney has gone through severe financial issues in its past and was able to dig itself out of some pretty deep holes each time by making better decisions, ala The Little Mermaid and the start of the 90s Renaissance for example. But now? Doubling, tripling, even quadrupling down on the crap that is making them hemorrhage money is the exact opposite of what a successful business strategy is. What exactly is their business strategy anyway? If it's to turn as many people away from its "product" as possible then bravo!

While true, it is also true that most companies hire experts to give them advise and perspective they don't have access to. There's nothing preventing them from HIRING someone with a traditional, loving family as a writer. Someone who DOES know. Nothing stopping them except their desire to even tell such a story. So I don’t read comics, but I did watch the Silver surfer cartoon as a kid, so I’d like to think that, while not a “fan”, I’m more attached to Norrin Radd than the average MCU watcher. So when I heard about the gender swap and this justification for it, I pretty much just asked: Ok, so where is Norrin Radd? Does he not exist in this continuity? Did he not get the chance to make his sacrifice like in the original? Or are they going to bastardize his character to prop up his girlfriend? Because I really, really hope it’s not the third one. After MoM I’m kind of tired of male characters getting thrown under the bus seemingly by reflex at this point. I don’t even think the writers were aware of how stupid the Illuminati were in Dr Strange 2: Electric Boogaloo.

I'm going to predict how the project will go. It may be called Fantastic Four, but it'll be The Sue Storm Movie. Normally, I wouldn't mind this, but I look at how Disney treated She-Hulk. Anyway, Sue will be feeling sidelined despite her fame because she's a woman. Reed will undervalue her because she's a woman. There'll be jokes at her expense about how she's the Invisible Woman because women should be seen and not heard. They'll justify it because the movie takes place in the early 60s, just before the bra-burners came along. Galactus will show up: a big bad man. He'll be heralded by the female Silver Surfer, who doesn't want the Earth to be eaten but the big bad man is making her do it. Sue and Surfer will be parallels, much like Reed and Galactus. They're two women who are held back by men. Mr Fantastic, the Human Torch and the Thing will try to stop Galactus but they'll all be curb-stomped. Sue then tells the Surfer to stand up for herself: she's more powerful than the planet eating giant because she's female. The two ladies will team up and defeat Galactus. Everyone cheers for Sue and Reed admits how dumb he was and maybe she should be the leader. Oh, yeah, and Multiverse stuff at the end.

I think one of the biggest flaws of current comic book movies is every movie has to be a world-ending event. The first issue of Fantastic wasn't them fighting the Silver Surfer or even Doctor Doom. It was fighting the Mole Man! Start small and work up to the cosmic faceoff three movies later once the heroes grow.

I was watching a video the other day where someone was talking to the Drinker, I forgot their name. But they were saying that they spent some time in Hollywood recently. Fant4stic is what you get when you hire a director who made a grounded, bleak movie about a group of teens who get superpowers.

I actually really enjoyed the early 2000s Fantastic Four movie. They were both very fun!

There are actually 4 Fantastic Four live action movies, the first one was made by Roger Corman and it was never commercially released. Basically, German producer Bernd Eichinger had bought the rights and in order to not lose them he had to produce a movie. So he hired Corman to produce a super low budget movie, which was never meant to be released but somebody got a copy and put it online. You can easily find it if you're interested and despite its basically nonexistent budget, it's a pretty faithful to the comics. You cann

You forgot about the 1994 Fantastic Four film, which is a leaked ashcan that was only made to keep the rights. A crazy film that is the most accurate to the comics so far.

The good thing to come out of all of this is exactly what you said. Indie films, new stories, new ideas, that's what we need. There are too many reboots, sequels, and retellings of stories now. We need new ideas and new stories to tell. If people stop caring about the crap Disney and others like them are shovelling, they won't go away, but they will pass into irrelevancy and be forgotten.
