Jardel was the definition of a fox in the box striker "missing goal chances" simply didn't exist in his textbook. He would've left a much bigger legacy if it wasn't for his personal life issues...

It sounds almost insane that he couldn't make it into the national team except a very few occasions.. Ronaldo was just the pure force of nature, and then there was Rivaldo who was more versatile, but no one else could come close to the offensive completeness of Jardel

An incredible player with an immense facility to score goals that seemed impossible. That was part of Jardel's magic that obviously made him unique but he suffered the injustice of the Brazil team to play at a time when there were a huge number of weighty names who occupied that position on offense.

Funny how he makes all those headers look so easy and effortless. I am 38 and I've seen a lot of good header players but Jardel was something else. If you had good wingers to connect crosses to him, lay back and enjoy.

Heading and jumping ability, timing, positioning - all absolutely top notch. Unstoppable header of the ball while he wasn't the tallest or strongest among forwards. But he was also an amazing scorer with his feet. Extreme level of composure, shooting technique. He'd score goals from tap-ins as he somehow knew where the ball goes, he'd cut into the box and score before defenders had a clue what he's going to do, he would almost always convert one on ones from counterattacks, he'd score magnificent goals from outside box, insane volleys..

One of those players that are ridiculously talented at scoring goals. Makes it look so effortlessly easy. I was able to watch him live during his spell at Turkey, albeit as a rival fan. Amazing talent.

Well, he started coming from the bench at San Siro, against the then powerful AC Milan, scored two goals and gave us, FC Porto, an epic victory and the next day a huge hangover but the best of my life. Then he kept on scoring aound 40 goals each season but for some unknown reason no big top team ever approached him. Thank you Jardel for those amazing 4 seasons at Porto, you will never be forgotten (and you know it).

Jardel was a great player and soccer, but Drulovic had great contributions for many of his goals.
