Māori FRIED BREAD Tasting in New Zealand | Nelson Markets | Reveal NZ S2 E6

Episode 6, Season 2 of Reveal New Zealand from Nelson as we eat our way around the Nelson Markets on a DIY Kiwi food tour and check out Kirby Lane... ⬇ More Below ⬇
Today we're in Nelson to get our food on, hunting out some good ol New Zealand food. It's aklso Saturday, which means the Nelson Markets are waiting for us.
New Zealand doesn't necessarily have it's own food per se, but there's a few classic Kiwi dishes and some Māori food we need to check out. The Māori fried bread was the highlight for us! It sounds pretty straight forward, but there was something amazing about the texture along with the neutral kind of flavour with the jam & butter - what a combo! If you find yourself in Nelson be sure to head to the markets and check out Kai with Aroha.
The Nelson Markets are one of New Zealand's oldest art and artisan street markets - I'd guess we showed about 50% of it on camera. There's so many other great food joints, local sellers, artisans and creative people showing off their style there.
Season 2 of Reveal NZ is a 15+ part video series showcasing the best things to do, see and experience in the Upper South Island. We're visiting Nelson, Tasman, Marlborough, Kaikoura, Hanmer Springs, Christchurch and more! We'll be going full vanlife for a portion of the trip in a top of the line motorhome as well, walking some of New Zealand's best tracks and checking out some incredible accommodation as well.
Prices at Trailways Hotel Nelson vary depending on room type, seasons and specific offers they have on - www.trailwayshotel.co.nz/

So many things about this video. 1. I went and made my porridge before sitting down to watch this 🤣 2. At 4:05 AS IF you guys can have samples out like that!! We only just had some restrictions lifted a week ago, but we can't go inside anywhere. Food places are take away only, still not allowed to stay overnight anywhere. Meanwhile you guys are living the life down there *not jealous at all* #TotallyLying 🤣 3. I was dying watching Stacey's reaction to the white bait sandwich. I imagine the grittiness is probably the bones... but they're jam packed full of calcium because of the bones 👍 4. Really appreciate the 2 videos in one week - a few travel vloggers I follow seem to have done 2 this week 🙌🥳

So glad you made something to eat before sitting down to watch this 😂 It's crazy how normal life is here (and we're so grateful for it!), we get a lot of comments from people asking where our masks are but there's no known cases in the community 🤷🏽‍♀️ so no need for masks outside of public transport. I can't even talk about the whitebait haha! bleh.

Whitebait. When I first had them they came in marinara sauce. They next time I ordered them they didn't have any sauce so I called the waiter and explained when I saw a waitress carrying a bowl of sauce. I said there it is and she gave it to me. Imagine then the embarrassment when the manager came over and pointed out it was actually tomato soup that I had poured my whitebait (with garlic butter) into and that the soup had been ordered by a neighbouring table! Completely off topic. That low headlight morris minor pickup @ 838 looks like one of the first ever made (about 1949) it has a hole in the front bumper for crank hand starting it probably has an old flathead series e motor and the cars had only 1 taillight, almost a pity it has new front guards to give it 4 headlights as the original were about 1.5 candlepower.
