Just got mine and had my first shave with it. I really like the way the head is designed. It clamps the blade really well and leaves very little hanging out in space beyond the edge of the top cap but the cap shape coupled with the gap between blade and safety bar make it way more aggressive than it looks or feels. There is no blade flex or chatter as it runs across the stubble.

Looks a nice razor. Would like to see a short handled version.

Mühle Blades are some of the best Blades and they really do good work on my beard. I have sensitive skin and they leave me with an irritation free shave 👍

I picked one up a few days ago for half price, and it's amazingly smooth, but also very effective! I always thought it was a ladies razor, but now I'm sure my wife won't get it as this one is already in my TOP 3 razors (Rockwell 6C, Parker Variant and this one).

I just ordered one of these from Shave Nation. Needed a German razor in my small collection and I'm impressed with the head design here. I'm a little anxious about the handle design and the slip factor. I will say this about the string: On first sight I hated it. Kind of like I hate that bakelite knob on the Merkur Progress. I'm into the classic look for razors, for the most part. As a person with small hands, I also need a handle that is as grippy and secure as possible. But as a frequent traveler, outdoorswoman, and a person who has been forced to shave in very tight shower/bathroom areas, I swear by things that hang--also due to the importance of drying most things properly in, say, a marine environment. I struggle right now, when shaving, to avoid knocking over and scratching my valuable razors and other shave gear that isn't unbreakable on shower or tub porcelain, tile, etc. In a limited bathroom situation in a different country, or if RV road traveling, for example, I'd welcome the ability to hang my nice razor out of the way as I lathered, rinsed, etc., and minimize the chance that a) I will get a cut and b)the razor will fall and get scratched as I crouch awkwardly in a tiny shower to shave my legs, looking upside down. Inevitably I'm going to knock something over, break some shit. This may be more important for most women than many men, just because of the nature of how and what we shave. But hey, also, you can just remove the cord if you don't like it, right? I appreciate that option, too. It would be cool if a travel shaving brush handle could incorporate either a magnet system on the base or a little notch to hang a cord or lanyard from so that even if you didn't have a travel case, you could still hang it upside down and help it dry properly. Hi Katie, Thanks for sharing your (cramped) shaving experience and the positive comments are greatly appreciated.

This tool is a silent killer without audio feedback destroyed your few days worth stubble geo at no time. Shape wise looks like the king c gillette but with a much nicer finish. The only feature I don't personally like is the loop at the end that thanks to you I discovered today that you can remove it. If I didn't have my favorite Rocca than I would definitely give it a go. Thank you for this informative review 👍

I would say the Lady Gillette was perhaps the first unisex razor. Lol. The longer handle makes the Lady feel good in the hand, as I imagine the Companion does.

How does the aggressiveness (or lack thereof) on the Campanion compare to the Muhle R89 Grande?

True, except for the pull out string and the head is designed differently.

Looks like it uses a Gillette Tech style head which mean probably has a small blade gap but should be efficient enough with great blade clamping.

​@@geofatboy Mühle Rytmo is just a stylised version of R89 (and complimenting brushes). I absolutely love the wooden Rytmo handle in combination with the R41 (perfect weight-balance and ratio, also excellent grip especially against the grain, a bit like vintage Gillette ball top). Also nice to let it hang upside down on conventional safety razor holder.

Hi Geo, would you say this is a good razor for shaping beards? I use the henson al13 which does a fantastic job, just want another option and to add too the collection. 🇮🇪

Ladies can use any razor a man can. I guess it all comes down to advertising... You need a special word, gimmick, string, etc...

I have a question, what is the best de razor? I only want to buy 1 or 2 and never worry again, I have a few potentials: Muhle companion Gillette adjustable The Razorine Merkur Futur Merkur Progress Could someone please give me some advice?

Tough question! Quite impossible to answer as the needs of everybody are so individual. Still I'd say Merkur Progress or Rockwell 6C (if you're on a budget), better 6S (if money is not that much of an issue). These should be able to cover almost all of your needs (probably; like e.g. thin/coarse hair, short/long stubble, face or head shaves,...).

I'm a woman who uses DE razors from mild (vintage Gillette Tech) to aggressive (Muhle R41). It's just a matter of marketing to call a razor "unisex". Although location and texture of hair that is shaved varies, there is no difference in technique or equipment to shave any type of human hair, whether one is a man or a woman.

I think it's for when women use it to shave their legs in the shower. You can put the loop over your little finger so you don't risk it slipping out of your hands and banging up the shower floor.
