Grew up in a suburb of Madison Wisconsin. Stationed in San Diego CA in the Navy for 8 years before getting lucky enough to be stationed at Pearl Harbor during the Hawaiian Renaissance. As an amateur cultural anthropologist, my family and I immersed ourselves in the Hawaiian culture, so I absolutely love these videos. Mahalo nui loa! When my favorite uncle was in the Army back in the 50's his unit had a lot of guys from Hawai'i. Their ha'ole CO was ah...not loveable;) so the guys in the unit started calling him mahu ( sorry no kahako ) when he heard about it he demanded to know what it meant and my Uncle Aki , with a straight face, told him it meant he was a great guy! The CO went around telling everyone how his guys thought he was such a great mahu! 0-13 Hawaii'i Kai, 13-26 Makiki ( Star of the Sea HS ) , 26 to now Las Vegas!

I must have missed this one video, as I just saw this today!... I was an Air Force "brat", so we moved a LOT when I was small. We moved to O'ahu in 1966, where I think I was the only haole girl in my Waialua High, 9th grade class, back in the "kill haole" days! Haha.. moved to Maryland for my senior year, then we moved right back to O'ahu!! My high school class of 1970 still considers me one of the class members, which is AWESOME to me!! All my family still lives on O'ahu, some 50 years later. I had moved to Maui for 8 amazing years and after many more years on O'ahu, I now live in Texas. I miss Hawaii every day and watch everything that I can so that I don't feel so homesick! I totally remember when you first started doing your comedy acts. Was stationed on Oahu in the Army. I lived on pupupuhi st, Waipahu for 6 months. Had a water bed, a kitchen table, two bean bag chairs, a milk crate with a rented tv on it. Lifeguard at Ft DeRussey and Mokuleia and stationed at Schofield. Live in Carlsbad CA now.
