Dude that was the best review i've ever seen. All the info we'd ever need and comunicated in a very understandable way. Absolutely amazing job.
I honestly can't believe just how much better this video was compared to other ones I've seen. Thank you very much, this has helped me a lot.
Agree with other contributors here, this channel is absolutely the ‘gold standard’ for measuring specs of pro-sumer audio interfaces, and so forth (well that’s the things I need help with understanding!). Thank you so much Julian, this is a properly useful review, and you deploy exceptional education and technical skills, and equipment, I don’t possess. Carry on, I hope your following increases, this channel deserves it.
Best Review for Audio interfaces on youtube or anywhere else!. goes into detail and i love how he compares with other interfaces, really helps you make a wise decision on what to buy based on your needs, I was surprised to see the scarlet audio interface has better mic dynamic range input, excellent review bro!
Your content is just killer man! Keep it up! 🔥📈🤟
this channel deserve more views, more likes and more subcriptions...the review work is so flawless
Julian, I appreciate so much what you do in thoroughly testing audio gear! There are so many feature run-through videos, but your reviews provide real value and show the differences between these pieces of gear. Thank you!! However, the more expensive Universal Audio Apollo & Arrow and Apogee Duet have become very common for home recording, so I would LOVE to see if their higher price tags are actually worth it. Please, I'd love to see them on your specs chart!!
And exactly one of the interfaces I was looking into and here's your review! Amazing detailed review as usual, thanks!!
Another great review, you are the king of audio interface reviews :)
Julian, I don't understand much about interfaces and its functions but i am currently building my modest home studio (been playing music for +20 years) and after watching many of your videos, i feel like i learned a few things and ended up getting this interface (but the 192|6 model) thanks to your video. Very happy with my purchase, thank you!
Exactly what i needed to se before my next purchase, really helpful. Thank you
Kudos! From now on i will only go to your channel for any review of audio equipment because they are supported by real facts of data.
Loving the channel Julian, informative and explained clearly for us simpletons! Thank you.
I don't know how to thank you. I was at the end of my rope when by divine providence I found you and the exact post with the exact information I needed. Thanks to you, I found the right equipment I needed to get my little mini DAW up and running. Your delivery is so clear and precise and engaging. Again, thank you so much. You are a beacon.
I’ve learned so much from you bro! Great reviews.

Wunderbare Arbeit, Julian 👌. Danke.
Yes I’ve been an audio tech with golden ears for over 40 years and this gentleman is right on key! Great Video! Keep them coming! And thank you!
So helpful man, thanks a lot for your very detailed review.
Excellent review! Thank you I currently have a Focusrite 2i2 using both inputs. Can the M-Audio AIR o192/4 or 192/6 be connected as an additional USB input on PC and not interfere with the existing 2i2?
Thank you very much for your lucid explanation of air 192/4. It was very helpful for me.
This channel is amazing, I think the only ones missing now are the audient iDs. Can I make I suggestion? You had give us a clear picture of how entry level cards compare, I think the next step is to compare one of the more "pro" expensive ones like the ua, duet or rme to this chart to see what paying that premium will offer. Thanks for this series!
Great review, man! Subbed \m/
Ty Julian, i recently bought this exact interface (I'm from Italy and on Amazon all the main audio interfaces were all sold out obviously), without having found any honest review online: well I was very surprised and your review confirm my impression. Clear audio, very low noise, and lots of gain with my easy to pilot Ath M50x.
What you’ve done for audio interface reviews has no equal. Funny that there have been so many well funded media outlets that don’t do what you do. Maybe they don’t have the know-how. I do want to see an Apogee Duet review done to your standards. Mostly because I’ve had one for years and I’ve always found the sound to be so good. I do hate the one knob design with the breakout cable. It’s just dumb, dumb, dumb. The one I have is too old to connect to an iPad and it has me seriously thinking about a new one. Something without the breakout cable. I wouldn’t have bought the Duet if it weren’t for the fact that my EMU and my Focusrite stopped being supported one after the other. The sound of the Duet and the fact that I bought it so long ago and it’s still supported really made me happy I did buy it. Right now that Motu looks so tempting as does the audient evo to a lesser degree. The Audient is a bit cheaper and more portable. If it had more gain they would get my money. Anyway, keep up the good work. It’s nice to see someone young and intelligent using his abilities in a way that’s good for musicians all over the planet. We live in such a great age in so many ways. It’s really a worldwide Renaissance. Shame we haven’t figured out how to squash pandemics and the many forms of ignorance and apathy.

It's because as a "proper" business, they need to keep the articles churning out, so quality suffers, and it's just a pretext to advertising anyways. Real deep dives can hurt a product, hence they don't go there. MusicRadar keeps LITERALLY RECYCLING the "best studio monitors" article for years now for example. It's basically linkspam.

Hey Julian, I love your detailed and wholesome reviews of all the audio interfaces! Is it possible that you could review the Roland Rubix series? Thank you!
Thank u so much i was hoping you would do a review of this interface
Thank you for another great review! Would love to see some reviews of presonus, tascam and mackie onyx stuff :)
Julian, that was yet another really great video. It gave clear product specs as well as side-by-side comparisons to it's competitors. That data gave me everything I needed to make a well-educated buying decision. Thank you.
Perfect timing haha. I actually just ordered this a week ago, currently waiting for it to be available. Decided to snag one because of the high preamp gain for my gf to use dynamic mics for voiceover on videos. While I upgraded my interface to the UMC404HD last year, the hand-me-down M-Audio Fast Track Pro didn't want to play too nice with her Mac and Premiere Pro. Figured some modern drivers would help, and might as well get more dB for the SM58 and the new Podmic. Glad to know that I wasn't far off the mark with the purchase decision there! Great work as always!

Due to this video I just purchased it from Amazon new for $109 USD but it is OOS until the 29th. I bought a pair of head phones and a BM-800 kit (came with the two XLR cables needed) and still came in under the M-Audio kit that didn't even include a stand/arm for the mic. Had it had that I would have bought it. I just returned the Neewer 8000 USB as it had a high pitch whine (low level) and with everything cranked up I had to touch it to my lips to get the audio to 1/4-1/2 in Audacity. Defect but I had enough with USB only mics so my world will open up now with XLR. Not expecting the world from the BM-800 but it is a start for now.
Can't thank you enough for talking me down from ordering a FetHead or Cloudlifter. I'm about to buy a dynamic mic to go with my Air 192 14, and now I can do so with some peace of mind
Very good review ! Helps a lot, thanks 😊 !
Great detailed analysis. Thank you.
Great review , keep up the good work .
Thank you for an informative and helpful review.
Very happy with my 192/6...by far the best desktop interface I have ever had. Zero installation issues and dead-stable driver from m-audio. I also love the little interface buffer setting widget that installs with the driver that lives on the toolbar. No menu stuff in the daw to switch buffer sizes from tracking to mixing...reaper anyway sees whatever change u make to the buffer in the toolbar widget instantly. Minimizing trips to the preferences menu is a big 👍from me. 🤘

HI I have the 19216 and was wondering if I should connect my guitar plug in the front jack or combo in the back, supposedly the combo is for active and front for passive.. the thing is my guitar goes through powered pedals like boss looper and boss space echo, so I don't know if that should go in the front jack or the rear combo as both pedals have volume control. Thanks!
Amazing review. Thank you :)

Very good content man. Thank you for all this info. Do you have a video explaining how you get your measurements? I'm not too familiar with some of the products you review and I'm not sure if I just missed the video. Can you also put up specs of your current PC so we can have a little reference on the latencies as well? Thanks. Keep up the wonderful content!
Thanks! I've been waiting for this review ever since I saw you had ordered the unit. I'm debating between this and the EVO 4. The loopback functionality of the EVO 4 would be nice to have but it looks like the M-Audio's much higher max gain setting has me sold. Keep up the great work!

@@spetsnazbeaver True, on paper it seems like the best choice. However, the price is considerably higher. I think it's still worth it for what it offers but I'm wary of the issues multiple people have had with its drivers. Also, this is just due to my setup but I prefer to have the line inputs on the back of the device.

Hi Julian - fantastic work. Really. In terms of detailed audi gear reviews this is the best on and off youtube. Any chances of reviewing Audient interfaces - in particular id22 and id44 - I understand they share the same internals and many people swear by them especially in comparison to the much more expensive stuff such as Apollo Twin and Apogee. Best!
Thanks Julian! I've been looking at the Air 192 | 6, and your review of the 192 | 4 convinced me that the | 6 is very good for what I'm needing it for (Dynamic microphones).

I use Windows also. I don't see any major reported issues with the drivers though. And Julian has the preamp going through his Windows 10 machine in the background. Great to hear, thanks for the feedback!
I really love your reviews; my only advice would be to comment a little on both Mac and Windows drivers - I've found that sometimes it doesn't matter how good the performance is if the drivers aren't up to scratch. This has really impacted the Audient, for example, and recently the Motu.
@JulianKrause
4 жыл бұрын
Hey, I totally understand your request to talk more about driver performance. The problem I have with that is that it can be very different on different PCs. My experience might be quite different than yours. I have used some many audio interfaces without a problem and yet some people report that they are running I to some issues with the same interface. I don't think I can make a representative statement about driver performance. That's why I usually don't talk about it.
Thanks mate, this is great! :)

Thanks for the review Julian. I was so happy to find a true objective review for interfaces! Subjectively is.... well, subjective. And trying to listen to audio samples objectively doesn't really work as they often aren't distinguishable, and the is the error introduced of out listening equipment.
Hi Julian..I just bought an EV RE20 mic but when i connected to my old Saffire 6 USB the mic gain is already at max and audio still low. Do you think this M-Audio Air is good enough for EV RE20 ? Please reply me asap so i can purchase the M-Audio Air.Many thanks.

Very useful review Julian, thanks! I'd like to know, between the budget m-audio, Motu and Evo you've reviewed if there is a "best one" just for recording classical music with condensers mics. Also, most important, how their sound performance in preamp+adc compare against recorders like Zoom f 4/6 or Sound Devices? I'm leaning towards one of the latter, more convenient as they can be taken out live everywhere without needing a pc, but still the interfaces could be used with an iOS devices - a little bit more complicated but still doable. So what interests me more is the sound quality - no overdubbing, no low latency needs, just achieve the best .wav file at the end of the day. Thank you so much and good work!
Hello, I have Rode Procaster + Umc22 Audio interface. When i was recording my sound, i have background noise from my pc fans. What should i do? Should i buy new audio interface or audio mixer or fethead? I think i should buy a fethead but i am waiting for your advice. Have a nice day!
@JulianKrause
4 жыл бұрын
Hey, a FetHead does not lower the background noise. This will help: 1. Exchange the fans in your PC against more silent ones. 2. get closer to the microphone. 3. Place the PC further away from you.

@@David-ub8bv oh well you get a lot of in and outs for the price. It is true that the preamps are very clean, the design looks gorgeous and the build quality feels ok. Not amazing, but okay. I am satisfied. Cons? It gets very warm at the touch which annoys me and despite the headphone amp being louder and better than usb-driven interface it is still not enough to monitor my voice without using an external amp.
