On September 8, 2023 at 23:11 local time, a magnitude 6.8 on ricther scale struck Marrakesh-Safi Region, Central Morocco. With at least 2,960 killed, and 5,640 Injuries and 2,00 of whom are seriously hurt, Thousands buildings were destroyed, including UNESCO Heritage monument. Marrakesh, Al Houz and surrounding areas was the most hard hit.
The earthquake was the largest in the country since 1755 Meknes earthquake, and the deadliest since 1960 Agadir earthquake, which killed more than 15,000 people.
