Lyricist Reacts to Sabaton - Counterstrike - JTMM Reacts

Welcome to JustTenMoreMinutes aka JTMM aka The Freakin 10! I am going to remain divided on this song, I like the story, the music but the lyrics themselves while telling the story are just not my type of lyrics with the short line bursts. I like meat to the lines but Sabaton makes it work so more just a preference thing.

Fun fact: the last time, a german WWII Tank saw real action was during the 6 days war. A PzKpfw IV Ausf. J or Panzer IV Type J digged in as a ridge top stationary AT Gun. German WWII era small arms were still around in the Balkan wars of the early 90, even some rare Sturmgewehr 44 and MG34, MP40 and the old reliable 98k carbine

It’s either this or Panzer Battalion. They both have an intense energy, but I like the lyrics/vocalisation in Panzer Battalion a little better. Both took place in the sand though!

I would say Counter Strike is better simply because Panzer Battalion takes a minute to kick into gear while Counter Strike is fastpaced right from the start.

Oh wow, I hate to admit it but I had pretty much forgotten this song. Certainly one of the less known and less popular songs from Sabaton, but nice to see a reaction to it! I agree with your opinion about it, it's not a bad song by any means (Sabaton doesn't know how to do bad songs) but definitely far from my favorites.

Its the "transitioning Time" when Sabaton decided, what they want to make their "Playground"..."Primo Victoria" was the first "real" Sabaton song, as we know today

I thought it was Panzer Battalion. Their first history-based album was Primo Victoria with Primo Victoria, Panzer Battalion, etc. While the album was called Primo Victoria, the first history-based song they wrote was Panzer Battalion (according to the Panzer Battalion Sabaton History video).

I've listened to Sabaton for a long time. Their first three albums have largely not aged well to be honest; it's clear that they were finding their feet and sound, and their rhythym if you will. There are a handful of hits in those early albums that still stand up among their more established music, such as Primo Victoria, Angels Calling, and Rise of Evil (I'm sure there are a couple of others which I forget off the top of my head). But as much as I love Sabaton and enjoyed those albums at the time, I don't think of them too fondly now, and didn't really think of them much at all until they touched on them again in the History series. The Art of War is where I think the consistent Sabaton quality that we know and love to this day was born, that album was and is an absolute banger.

You have been getting into the backtracks lately. I don't love this track. Actually I have a hard time listening to this, it gives me almost an anxiety attack. Those fast-beating drums fasten my heartbeat and I'm having a hard time listening to the lyrics.
