Stone Sour was actually Corey Taylor's band before he joined Slipknot. They played from 1992-1997. Went on hiatus. Came back in 2000. They have been taking a break on/off while Corey and Jim Root toured with Slipknot. Root left in 2014. Stone Sour went on indefinite hiatus in 2020. Slipknot was formed in 1995 Check out Gone Sovereign/Absolute Zero with Jim Root. Must be played back to back like on the album. Corey sings on Absolute Zero: If I offended you, you needed it. Great lyrics

I didn't know Stone Sour was formed before Slipknot. I was under the impression Corey formed the band when he was on hiatus with Slipknot
Through the glass ( of the t.v. ) at the stars ( movie stars and celebrities ) that lie to you ( partially acting or greed or envy ) he was speaking from his experience on becoming famous and the only thing he could really believe or trust was in his own head.... Because of so many others motives of other people

I always thought he meant through the glass as like glassy eyed cuz his problems with alcohol...remember what you're looking at is me: remember it's still him underneath just feels more like a product than a person because of all the (mannequin/ plastic) stars ...it's all a lie ...ppl thought his life was amazing and envied him and he was miserable.....just how I always took the song
In the music video, right when he says "an epidemic of the mannequins, contaminanting everything" he shows the Hollywood sign. This song hits so different after the awakening I had last year. And looking at you through the glass (the tv screen) that we are all lost in, and the "stars that lie to you" are all the Hollywood celebrities that we idolize and worship, and they are some of the most evil and deceptive people.
I took him "looking at you through the glass" is he is watching himself trapped in his own head watching everything happen around him and he's basically on autopilot.
Corey Taylor said in an interview when asked about this song: " It's me basically calling 'bulls--t' on pretty much everyone involved with the 'American Idol'-type shows. It has its place, but when you're basically cornering the market and making it very hard for anyone who actually writes their own music to get ahead, then it's wrong and that's really why I wrote this song."
How deep most rock songs are goes so unnoticed. The genre itself usually doesn't get the respect it deserves
The very first time I heard Stone Sour it was the song "Bother" and I ran right to the record store and bought their 1st CD. Other great songs are Say You'll Haunt Me, 30/30/150, Tired, Absolute Zero, Zzyxx Road, Hesitate, or The Travelers Part 1 (&2). I can listen to most of their albums without skipping a single track.

I love this Corey Taylor project. The Stone Sour sound is fabulous!
I really love this side of Corey He actually has such an amazing voice and his lyrics are full of emotion
I love how Lex broke that down. Def feel you on how the significance of lyrics overpower the music. 💯
This song reminds Me of My days stuck in a Meth daze ; staring at the strange shadows and demonic lights crawling and throbbing on the wall … feeling so far away and separated from real life … thank God I kicked the habit . Clean three years now .
SEVENDUST OFFICIAL VIDEO "DENIAL". You must watch the videos they make. You gotta see these guys!!! Totally underrated band. 😲 Hi, I have been binge🤪 watching you two, for 1wk now. I absolutely love🥰 you two. Just your energy.👌🏻 Have fun and just enjoy music. It's all a mood. No holding back please. Don't forget to truly appreciate the music! Let that wall down. I grew up listening to so many different genres. From hip hop, rap, soul, r&b, rock, hea y rock, metal, thrash, pop, poprock, classic rock, grunge rock, Ska, punk... oh man, soooo many variables of music. VH1 and MTv 80's&90's. You are 1000% right, and in the music video when he says "the epidemic of the mannequins, contaminating everything" they show the Hollywood sign. It's sad how many people are sleeping and don't understand the meaning.
Brad&Lex: stone sour = "lyrical genius" Me: Lex is a genius at breaking down lyrics Brad: stars are a lie Me: everyone's a freaking genius this morning 🧐🔥🔥🔥
The actual video for this tune is one of my favorites of all time. The message of the song becomes quite clear, and it's done extremely well.
Dave Grohl had Cory Taylor sing "From can to can't" on the Sound City album. Well worth watching/listening to
One of my best friends introduced me to this song when we were drinking. We almost got evicted from singing this louder than the stereo. Good times and I miss him ❤ ✌❤🇨🇦
5:33 It's funny you mention Corey Taylor's lyricism. When I first heard Slipknot in 2000, I didn't hate it, but I wasn't exactly impressed either. Until I opened up the lyric book to the CD. Then my mind was blown. It was his lyrics that made me a decades long fan as the band did nothing but get better over the years.
Saw these guys with disturbed, flyleaf and nonpoint back in 06 in Detroit! Great show by all bands!
♥️♥️♥️ Stone Sour !!! I found them YEARS before I found Slipknot, and watching Corey Taylor be Bad Ass in both bands still is SOO AWESOME !!
Definitely check out “Bother”…Corey has such a good singing voice.
Omg, so glad you got to Stone Sour! Hesitate is a great song from them!
I like the buildup of instruments through the beginning of the song and then it just, boom! hits you
This song is about Hollywood stars.. About their fake
Lex be like, “shut up about the sun. SHUT UP ABOUT THE SUN”
This universe is a illusion. A movie. Then it all makes sense.
I seen them perform this at the old starwood ampitheatre (which is an outside venue) that is no longer open in LaVergne, TN when I was 16. This song and "Bother" are forever engraved in my brain.... It was my first time ever being at a concert period and it was a all day festival with Korn being the headliner ..... One of my favorite music related memories
Such a piece of pure art. Corey is so talented 🖤
Another interpretation, his the glass question is actually your television or computer screen. And the stars that you see through that screen they Shine for you, but they also lied to you all the time.
I forgot how much I love this song. Thanks for the reminder and reaction. I love lex's vibe on this song. I get it 🤣
It's the quavering vocals and self harmonizing for me. Love this song
love your reaction videos guys. lex youre amazing.
More Stone Sour please. 30-30/150 and Scars!!!
I wish Lex and I went to school together, I know we'd have been good friends. Her takes are always on point!
Looking at a person through the glass, The stars shine for you but also lie to you - Hollywood?
Love this song, I like a live version that they are playing at an outdoor festival!
The actual video is awesome and it gives a little more context to the lyrics... ❤️
Should watch the actual video, I watched it tripping once and it was awesome.
YES, it's great that you're paying attention to lyrics again (as well as the music and vibe, of course). Sometimes lyrics are vague and unimportant, but sometimes they're an essential part of the song!
You should have done the official video for this. It helps with he song meaning and it's an awesome video
This man can do everything and is so infectious. Bother is another great one by them but they have a long list of heavy bangers for you to discover. Enjoy the journey. The stars can also be the movie stars lying to you through the media, the television, the looking glass. I also like your interpretation too. It's deep 👏👏👏👏
I absolutely love your interpretation Lex ❤️
Tim Minchen - PREJUDICE Best solo piano live song EVER!
Lex you are so good how you analyse, love you both. great reaction
One of my favorite songs, great tune
Always thought it was about him looking at a girl across the room through a drink glass, like at a bar or something. Like sneaking a look as to not be seen by doing it while he's taking a sip and he feels like his heart/time stopped as he's seeing her, like there's a spark and his heart slipped a beat. But I also think it means what you guys are saying as well, like there's something amazing about that girl but he also knows that there's probably a lie there too.
My headphones dont go high enough for this masterpiece...❤
Hes looking at himself in a mirror. "Remember what you're looking at is me". And I think the stars are a reference to celebrities. Celebrities are also called stars
this man has my utmost respect any which way you want to look at it. Zzyxx Road my Stone Sour is the song i want played at my celebration of life one day. it says everything i would want to. Much Love for checking out THE man :)
Another favorite from Stone Sour ❤️❤️
I remember around 2002, Corey announced that he was reuniting his band Stone Sour, which was before Slipknot... Slipknot was taking a break, so he got Slipknot guitarist Jim Root w/ Josh Rand (guitar), Shawn Economaki (bass) and Joel Elkman (drums)... and did the first Stone Sour album in 2002... Elkman was replaced in 2006 by Roy Mayorga (drums) for this 2nd album 'Come What (ever) May'... Shawn Economaki quit in 2011 after the next album 'Audio secrecy'... Jim Root left in 2013 (?) and was replaced by Christian Martucci (guitar), and Johnny Chow (bass) had joined. Stone Sour went on hiatus in recent years.
More stone sour is needed 30/30-150, do me a favor, say you’ll haunt me, song #3, fabuless, tired, digital (did you tell), gone sovereign/absolute zero. Also cmft from Corey’s solo album
Ok B & L…now you’ve hit one of my soft spots. You gotta do this rabbit hole more pleeeeeze…Stone Sour is the bomb. Please do “ Gone Sovereign/Absolute Zero” two back to back songs on the album but I think there’s a video that does both together..then “ Pieces”, “A Rumor of Skin”, “ Tired”, “Idle Hands”, deep cut “Road Hogs”…. There are sooo many 🤘🤘🔥🔥
This song gives me full body goosebumps especially right now. Look into the time he had when he wrote this song. He had food poisoning S#!Ting his brains out and created a masterpiece.
*Stone Sour - "Song #3" and "Hesitate"*
Corey Taylor Singer from Slipknot and Stone Sour, such a humble guy
I obviously love this song. Thanks for checking it out. Corey wrote this song, while lying in a hotel bed somewhere in Europe, with food poisoning, so weak he couldn't even get up to the bathroom (I won't go into details here) and watching some celebrity show on TV. No fun way to get inspired. Greetings from Germany
Love this song!
They have one called "Made of Scars" that rocks
Inhale is another great track from Stone sour
It makes a lot sense that it reminds you of Slipknot, as Corey Taylor is the lead vocalist and lyricist for both bands.
I’m looking at you guys through the glass right now watching you listen to though the glass😏
Jeff Healey “See the Light.” Trust me. Blind guitar player and lead singer.
When he's saying "Looking at you through th glass", he's talking about being in prison, and wishing his loved ones well.
The best Stone Sour song is whatever one you play next.
It was a reflection of the time he spent in LA hope that gives so context
In the video he's singing in front of what you think is the Hollywood sign but if you look closely it says Hollowood. The stars that lie to you are celebrities!
I would recommend either Zzyzx Rd of Idle Hands. Amazing songs. Corey's voice is by far one of the best voices in metal. The range he has is amazing! When you said an acoustic version of a Slipknot song I thought you meant Vermillion.
Corey Taylor wrote this after being in Amsterdam (I think) watching MTV Europe while he had a terrible bout with food poisoning. I'm not 100% about Amsterdam, but it was definitely a country in that vicinity.

@@chestrockwell8328 yeah. It's not a secret. Corey has talked about the meaning of this song. The video goes along with it perfectly. But I still love that it can easily mean different things for so many people.
The video is also Great, it goes with the song so well
This song will get stuck in your head
The music video makes the explanation very simple. He's talking about Hollywood stars. Though I love your interpretation as well. The music video is definately worth checking out though.
Deep deep guys, y’all got it as far as I know 👍
I always thought of looking through the glass of a drink. Being drunk, time can pass infinitely different and it feels like being alone in your head. That said it could also be a metaphor for an hourglass. The beverage dwindling down like the sand and filling it back up is like flipping over the hourglass.
Corey Taylor has a great voice. Fun fact: my son's old band actually opened up for Stone Sour along with Shadows Fall and Laconia Coil

Wow, I like this. Thanks for the suggestion, whoever you are ❤️❤️
Clicked on this one with the quickness
This song was about his goldfish, remember what your staring is me.
I think there could be a few interpretations. Looking through the glass could be just a metaphor for observing someone through a barrier or how when you look through certain glass the image is distorted or warped
Hey Brad and Lex. Love all of your content. What is the best way to get a long winded request to you guys?
He's singing about Hollywood and the lies and falseness of celebrities (stars) also speaking of TV interviews that "DON'T EXPECT AN EASY ANSWER" for ratings. Love this song. Watch the video, it shows the cliches, fakes and tropes of Hollywood celebrity!
"Song #3" by Stone Sour is my absolute favorite, it's of their most recent album Hydrograd For something very different by them, try "RU486" 😅
My interpretation of this,is through glass is looking at photos of someone who's passed,& the feels like forever is how he spends so long doing it he loses track of time. The sitting all alone inside your head is all the memories of that person.Might sound odd,but that's how I've always interpreted it.Awesome song,I'm sure it's Corey Taylor??? does an awesome cover of wicked game.Love you guys 💖🤘💖🤘

lmfao THIS song
6 days late and a dollar short, but give Stone Sour’s cover of “Creeping Death” a listen it’s a very pleasing tribute to the legends.
The video for this song is really cool.
When you look into glass you see your own reflection but you can also look through your reflection. So he looking out a window but also looking at himself and thinking he has lost track of time deep in thought Your mind has infinity thoughts like the universe is infinite and goes on forever like your thoughts can sometimes your ideas and thoughts are brilliant and you get excited and that is the star that shines for you but then our own doubts sabotage us and lie to us. He is pondering something that he feels is going to effect his eternity The song starts he is asking himself how he feels about his choice and his soul and is loosing hope, sounds like in humanity as he describes people as mannequins which are shells thoughtless empty soulless people ruining everything because of greed perhaps Maybe he realizes you can move and meet different people but it’s no different it’s still the same just a different scene although he was hoping for a happier reality. It is a deeper song than I realized since it is a bit repetitive but the beginning lyrics are full of depth
I always thought the star line was a double entendre. On one hand he could be talking about hollywood stars as others have said. On the other hand "the stars lie to you" could be talking about horroscopes and people who believe in them.
One hit wonders are also cool to do! Like Tiffany- I think we’re alone now (original from tommy James and co)
I love this song. Corey Taylor is one of my most favorite singers and songwriters ever!
This song is a self reflection. He is looking at himself in the mirror. Watch the music video.
This song always gave me the impression of someone being committed to an asylum, or maybe being checked into rehab. I felt like the imagery was describing this guy sitting alone, struck in his head with nothing but his own thoughts for company, knowing on the other side of that one-way window somebody was watching him, taking notes, filling out paperwork; the line "When something like a soul becomes initialized and folded up like paper dolls and little notes" in particular gave me the impression of someone "close" to him - a partner or family member - putting their initials on the paperwork that pawns him off onto the doctors like he's not even a real person, just some malfunctioning trinket they don't want to deal with any more. And there's also this theme of cynicism to me. "How do you feel? That is the question. But I forget you don't expect an easy answer." To me it has this kinda sarcastic, world-weary feel to it, like the doctor is doing their usual psych-eval interview, asking him how he feels, and he wants to just brush it off with "fine, how are you" or something, but he's looking at this doctor and thinking in the back of his mind "you're not actually interested in how I'm feeling, you're just baiting me hoping for something you can analyze so you can make a study out of my life." It's all a mix of sorrow, anger, and just being "done" with everything. Like "you don't even see me as a human being anymore. I'm just something for you to poke at and study. You don't care about me." I've looked it up, and as with many songs there doesn't seem to be a reliable source on the meaning behind it. Some suggest it's about addiction, some suggest it's a about a relationship, someone claimed Taylor had said it was a call-out song aimed at the music industry, how fake it all was, and expressing frustration that the "singer-songwriter revolution" had failed or perhaps never even took place. Which does fit well with I believe it was the second verse, "how much is real? So much to question. An epidemic of the mannequins contaminating everything we thought came from the heart but never did, right from the start. Just listen too the noises, null n' void instead of voices." It's like he's looking around at other "artists" and thinking "you're all so completely and utterly fake. Not a single one of you wrote your own songs, there's no real emotion behind any of this, it's all just counterfeit and carbon copies." And there's a lot of truth in that. There are tons of "hit songs" we associate with specific artists yet not only did they NOT write the song, many times the song was written for another artist who turned it down or the label decided they wanted someone else to do it instead. And that artist just sorta shoe-horns themselves into the headspace of the song and tries to pass it off as something they're really feeling. It's why there are so many songs out there that really don't have any "zing" to them, and others that hit so much harder because it's REAL. Like NF's "How Could You Leave Us." That song cuts you right to the core. I can't listen to it without tearing up no matter how many times I've heard it and even though I've never been in that situation or anywhere close to it, I feel it every time. And then I'll hear a song performed by some other artist and it's just so hollow because they're just reading the words with no emotional investment.
I'VE HEARD COREY TAYLOR SING 3 DIFFERENT TYPES MUSIC!!! I COULD LISTEN TO COREY TAYLOR SING ANYTHING!!!!!! GOT TO LISTEN TO THE SONG "BOTHER "!!!!!🤘🔥🔥🤘
