    Mutt was her producer/husband. This was one of the highest selling albums ever and on e of the first country/pop crossovers - setting path for Taylor Swift, Dixie Chicks, etc. Mutt was a very successful and talented producer at the time and was key in Shania’s success. Just a shame their marriage and prof collabs ended on back of his running away with Shania’s best friend. Shania has had a lot of tragedy and heartbreak in her life and good to see her more active in music recently.

    One of mine and my mums favourites. Mum always thought despite it being used as a wedding song at countless ceremonies, she found it relatable as a song celebrating the birth of her children- the gift of bringing new life into the world. So timeless so stunning (as is Shania).

    Brings back memories of playing this song and the album all the time. Still on my iPod. Love how she incorporates different genres into her music. The original version of this song is a duet with country singer, Bryan White, but im used to her solo version. You can hear his vocals in the background at some points but listen to his full vocals on the album itself. This song wasn't in a movie soundtrack but her other slow song ballad, You've Got a Way, was in the Nottinghill Soundtrack with Hugh Grant. You can react to that one. A beautiful song too. I think this album is more Pop Country than Country Pop. It goes both ways depending on which ways it is marketed on radio.

    Hi Anton, I'm really enjoy your reactions and agreed with a lot of what you are saying. I don't comment on hardly any videos that I view, but on rare occasion I do, and this is that occasion. Have you heard of Morrissett Amon? If you haven't, do yourself a huge favor and research her out. Take all the greatest female vocalist from past and current, roll all their best attributes into one person, that is Morrissett Amon. Belting, no problem, whistle register, no problem, riffs & runs, no problem, but the best thing is that she a life performer, no auto tune needed, just give her a platform. Factor Morrissett into the equation and it will change everyone's musical standards.

I have more respect for artists who write & record their own songs. Also she didn’t write this for her & her husband she wrote it as a tribute to her deceased parents who she believed would be together forever if they were still on earth & are now together forever in their afterlife which is even what it says on their tombstone TWAIN - Sharon & Jerry “Together Forever”

    I think it's unfair to compare Shania to Celine, they are both great in their own way, obviously Celine's voice is unmatched, but Shania's is very good as well, outstanding and has different qualities. I also don't think it's fair to say Shania is a country singer, even though I can completely understand why you would think this, her voice and the way she sings has country elements to it, I just don't understand why people can't just leave some artists in the pure pop genre (straying into other genres at times as well). Other questions you ask, yes, Mutt Lange (who was also a huge part behind the success of Bryan Adams as well) was married to Shania (I've actually never heard him called Robert before, he's always been Mutt to me) before he cheated on her with her best friend, and I think I'm right in saying he a huge part in her success as well. I also think, though correct me if I'm wrong, that after their divorce Shania ended up marrying the ex-husband of her best friend (or should I say ex best friend) who her ex husband had cheated on her with. I don't think this song was in any movie, it wasn't at the time as far as I know, though I can understand why you might think that, but I've heard it is for many people the perfect wedding song. Shania looks absolutely divine in the video as well. I can't understand how anyone could ever want to cheat on her!!!

    Isn't Shania known as "Queen of Country Pop"?

  • @mattpotter8725

    @mattpotter8725

    Жыл бұрын

    @@xrey83 She might be, but the key word here is pop. All I'm saying is that many people seem to think they have to pigeon hole artists as something other than pop, as though pop isn't a worthy enough genre. I've never heard Shania called this although I know her stuff from this kind of era more than what she might have done later in her career. If she went more country then great, as I think I said she had that kind of voice to be able to do it and if I'm being honest there's a lot of money in that genre in the States, and maybe a bit more longevity in being a Country star than staying relevant in the pop world which at least used to be changing all the time.

  • @xrey83

    @xrey83

    Жыл бұрын

    @@mattpotter8725 it was easier to be in a specific genre back in the 90s and prior. As people started to experiment with blending different genres and country artists (young ones in particular) starting having pop images and vocal sounds. With the amalgamation of music genres it would be challenging to just sound or look like one genre.

  • @mattpotter8725

    @mattpotter8725

    Жыл бұрын

    @@xrey83 With respect I disagree. I think the best artists were almost genreless (if that's even a word), still are imo, either they developed over time or could just have a one off song or album that ventured into a different genre, maybe a collaboration with say a country artist or a rock band. Not that many bands or solo artists could do this, but some just had a style of their own, instantly recognisable, but hard to pin down from pop to rock, maybe a bit of folk thrown in for good measure. I think it's fine, in fact I think it's healthy. I don't think it's changed much at all over the years. Humans like to clarify things, put labels on them, put them in a nice little box, but life, especially music doesn't always obey these rules, things are more complicated. Take Ed Sheeran these days, he has some folk type songs, some ballads, he has his guitar, he raps a bit, more recently had gone a bit more electronic. He's hard to label. I bet he could do a bit of country as well if he ever wanted to go that way, Adele as well could.

  • @xrey83

    @xrey83

    Жыл бұрын

    @@mattpotter8725 that’s the point of my argument. Music borrows from each other. It was easier to label yourself with a particular genre in the past because they followed the rules set up for that genre - whether it be singing style or specific instruments. As people started to depart from these “rules” artists were free to experiment with vocal styles and music.

It's a bit too schmaltzy and saccharin for me, hence, one of my least favourite songs and even though I love Shania's performance I think it lacks her trademark passion and sass, she's just going through the motions.
