Neil Young dissed the south with a song called Southern Man, and Skynyrd responded back with Sweet Home Alabama.

"who is Neil Young?" Yes, he is uninformed, but he says that at the beginning of his video how listening to different genres has changed his life and he is realizing how much he has missed. love his honesty. No airs.

@@williamdoody HATE to tell you this but Alabama wasn't the only state to save the lives of babies. All the Southern States did as well as some Midwestern states. To say we punish women for killing their babies is ignorant. For some stupid reason some stupid jackasses in the 60s got together and rulled that murder should be legalized. The problem is, the ONLY COMPLETELY INNOCENT people in this country (babies) are the only ones who can legally be butchered and then murdered. You nerd to educate yourself a little before you make an even bigger ass of yourself. Just stick to the music. That's what we are here for.

Wallpaper for the ears...that's a good way of putting it. I'm gonna use that.
Neil Young made Southern Man, where he projected the idea that everyone in the south had slaves, and they were all whipping them. Lynyrd Skynyrd knowing better, not to say that slavery was okay, made this. And their response is: I like this place. End of story.
Rock artists have beefs too. That lyric in the 2nd verse is in response to Neil Young talking dirt about the "Southern Man".

Great artist and songwriter, I agree. Just never cared for his voice--he should have been one of those writers that wrote songs for other singers that, you know, can actually sing.
Ok now you gotta react to Neil Young's "Southern Man"
Now I understand why you have over 1.5 million subscribers young Bro!! Keep it going.....🍻!
Just subscribed to your channel today after reading a comment on another channel describing your reaction to Free Bird. I watched that video to the end and practically roared at your reaction; it was hilerical (mashup of hilarious and hysterical) to watch you, mind blown, walk out speechless. Yes, both Simple Man and Sweet Home Alabama (which, like Free Bird, is not just a song but an anthem) are bangers.
Neil Young - Southern Man. One of the 20th century's most important musical artists, and the reason for this song's existence

The song was a tongue in cheek reaction to Southern Man. Safe to say some of the lines in Sweet Home Alabama are sarcasm. They were Neil Young fans 🤷♂️

You need to listen to and react to The Ballad of Curtis Loew by Lynyrd Skynyrd. That song is another classic for all of southern rock

I hope the line “Muscle Schoals has got The Swampers” line at least sent you down a rabbit hole.
Oh man, you have to listen to Southern rockers Molly Hatchet's "Flirtin' With Disaster," then throw in Marshall Tucker Band "Fire on the Mountain."
