This scene is exactly the reason why Lynette has always been my favourite among the Desperate housewives. Strong, courageous, upright, wise, able to overpass her own pain for the good of those she loves. Crying while watching that scene
And Lynette cried alone. Her strength is something we all should get inspiration from.
God I love Lynette for this talk with Penny. She's a real lady!!!!!
No matter how many time I watch this scene, I cry...

lol this show has been off the air for over a decade! There’s no such thing as spoilers with a show this old!
This episode breaks my heart. Sometimes adults don’t realize how words or action could affect kids. If we do love the kids, is FOR THEM that the adults problems should be kept apart from them. Lynette quit to her selfishness and gives Penny the freedom to let herself feel in order to trust and lover others. With time, she will realize that she deserves to be loved.

imo while it was selfish, it wasnt completely unwarranted. tom leaving jane, was in a way, leaving the family. before the divorce was even set into stone, he started his relationship with jane way too soon. and while that wasn't really a problem, he started bring her into family matters too early.

I wish my parents did that with me and their marriage problems, I guess they didn’t love me as much as I thought. Well soon I don’t need them I don’t need them……. But I still want them in my life But I guess I never get what I want
how can you not cry in this scene when you imagine the necessity and weight of understanding
I wish my mom was this sweet during their divorce...
I think this is the only season where Lynette talks to penny. Lol.

Lynette and Tom were separated, he got himself a new girlfriend and Lynette initially turned her daughter against the gf and she didn't want to spend time with her dad.

Lynette typical of her. She put the kid in the middle of their fight...just to hurt Tom.
