Lyndon Baglin has been one of my favorite euphoniumists in the world, ever since I first heard him play. Wonderful style and sound, and a clever use of alternate fingerings in this video!

David Werden I totally agree, his sound is extremely unique, he was able to play with such a tender and soft sound while still maintaining the bounce in the articulation of the notes in the faster sections. Additionally I find that he is one he few European euphonium players that I’ve listened to that use a variation of vibrato rather than just strictly fast or slow. Finally, his triple tonguing is absolutely amazing. I had to listen to the video 3 times to be sure that he indeed was articulating every note in the end section. An absolute delight to listen to!

At about 3:40 my heart starts to cry. My mum loved this part the most. And for me it's a symbol for her. Especcially after she died. Ty Lyndon and the poster to of course

In days when Euphonium players did what was required as the name indicates "Euphonium" from euphoric as in Sweet Sounding!

Perhaps not as the virtuoso guys from today, but with style, nice and warmth sounds, exactly which a Euphonium should sound. Never ever heard Rule Britannia that great.

Really nice guy and great player. Met him twice in my younger days. But as I went on to study music and interpretation full time, I still come across players of all instruments who, dont promote the motive in the variations. Came across 3 who interpreted well, Jim Shepherd, Dougie Bird, Phill McCann. Maybe I'm just old now.. lol

For such a great player, its interesting to see him using both his middle and ring fingers to depress his second valve at some points.

It's a lot easer to move your middle and ring fingers together than individually because of the way the tendons are arranged. Maybe he finds it easier to made defined moves on the second valve when using both fingers

The first thing my teacher would say to him is "you're moving around too much". And my teacher would be wrong. That's all he said to me after recitals. It's annoying when that's all your teacher has to say about your playing.

Correct Allan . Todays Euphonium players are all (most of them ) non Euphonium players . their sounds are like baritons players from Germany

That is just simply not true. They all stand on the shoulders of Lyndon, Trevor and the rest from that era, but can you honestly say, that David Childs, David Thornton, Glyn Williams, Chris Robertson and Daniel Thomas has the noise of a german barytone?? They fill the biggest halls in the world with beauty!

Great soloist, but unfortunately unaffectedly with the theme. It’s like me that played the Radezky march for Celtic harp and violin. We played all the notes, but it wasn’t the meaning and spirit of the composer. With age and experience I’ve learned not to want to change, only to show off or commercial reasons, what is already musically perfect.
