LVAD 01: Anatomy and Physiology
LVAD's scare me, so lets learn a bit about them. And, Mr. Cheney DID get a heart transplant, so he was receiving bridge-to-treatment (BTT) therapy and not destination therapy.

As a paramedic this is such an awesome video with great a great explanation of LVADs. Thanks!
I'm a new CTICU nurse and this video was fantastic! Thanks and please keep your posts coming.
Thank you. Have my first patient with LVAD and going through your video was very helpful. Always worried what I would do if he has syncope in exam room. You explained everything very nicely.
Great video. Very good job. One of the few very well done video that I have ever seen (and I have seen a lot).
Thank you very much for explaining so well!
If possible please post a video explaining differences between different types of ventricular assist devices. thanks so much

awesome vid, thanks!- oral surgeon
The Ejection Fraction pertains to patients with Systolic CHF only. LVADs are used for Diastolic CHF as well, where there is a Preserved Ejection Fraction. Cardiac output is the measure for the LVAD implantation and NOT EJ%. The HeartWare III does have a pulse.
Awesome!!
I personally don't know anyone with an LVAD. I've seen some in the Emergency Room, though. Regarding training your medics on this, I can't make any recommendations. I would ask your local LVAD coordinator for help with this. My videos are purely "infotainment" - but it's probably a good idea for them to know something about LVAD's if you have patients with these in your community.
Good job thank you
I have used many apps, for this I used DoodleCast Pro. My current favorite is Vittle. Both for iPad.

70 yo w LVNon compacted cardiomyopathy.I’m in HF now.not eligible for transplant. Waiting to see if the famous four meds will help . Not sure how I feel about this device but hopefully have time to think. Retired nurse practitioner. Thanks for info
In the first few seconds, you drew the blood coming from the lungs through the pulmonary arteries. It comes through the pulmonary veins. Doesn't hurt your explanation and most people won't catch it but you may want to correct it.
Do you know how many people are walking around with an LVAD? I run an ambulance company....should I train my medics on this?

How is life with it on
do these damage blood cells
A needle to change blood temperature makes far more ssnes then attaching machines to a person's heart
Doctor the ending should alway be the begging, NO CPR
Very good, thank you so much
