    Back in the stone age, my mother had a yellow station wagon with wood paneling (and no seat belts or soft surfaces, metal everything.) I immediately thought of that beast when I first saw this bus. I miss it. The purple however reminded me of the Knight Bus in Harry Potter. Either way, I like it.

    I agree the wood stove would of been better angled the way you suggested for loading wood and safety. The toilet I think would of been better placed so your legs pointed towards entrance. Doesn't look like enough room for legs with wall. Beautiful work. Thank you for sharing. Blessings to you.

    If it was facing the door, you would not be able to close the door while on the toilet. I'm 5'11, 270lbs. And I can sit on the toilet just fine with the door closed, and still have room to do what needs to be done.

    I am a seasoned builder and a retired RV Technition so that being said , you did a very nice job with this build . However ( please take what I have to say in a helpful manner )........... , School bus windows leak . It doesn't matter what you do as far as sealing them they will eventually leak and when they do it is rarelly known because they leak into the walls and create mold , black mold. Yes I know the client wanted to keep her windows BUT you should have explained to her what I just said. You re-sheeted the entire outer skin and that would have been perfect to install double pane RV windows that rarelly leak . You said nothing abouty what you insulated the bus with so I hope it was with Owens Corning Pink or best , urethane spray foam. The fridge , I noticed there were no locking mechanisms on the doors . Those doors will open when she turns and we both know what will happen. Child proof door locks at a minimum would suffice . Lastly . why didnt you install a light in the rear storage ?. Cam locks would also have been the way to go to remove the battery panel instead of screws . That's all I have to say .Peace

  • @RedsCustomDesign

    @RedsCustomDesign

    6 ай бұрын

    Thanks for watching and your concerns, but I disagree with you on them. If you do not completely remove the windows, clean and reseal them as you install them. Then yes, they will leak. But if you put a bead of good urethane sealant down, then install the window and put a bead around the outer edge. Once it's in, it is water tight . This is not my first bus build. It is the first bus build my company has done. As for the insulation, I did mention that it was completely sprayfoamed. Also, the refrigerator has a latch. It wasn't in at the time of the video. That's why it wasn't on in the video. The top panel (under the mattress) comes off for access to the electrical system as well. There is nothing that needs to be accessed in there on a regular basis, so why add a latched door? Also, as in most cases, the underbed storage area is crammed so full of stuff a light wouldn't do any good anyway. This customer is no exception.

    Very nice workmanship indeed...the only question/concern I have is the bed...I do not see any holes for ventilation to ensure the mattress doesn't get moldy ... buses of course have a high rate of condensation...but I do realize that the wood stove will help the condensation...but with the bed and the stove being at opposite ends, I'm not sure if that's adequate ... is there venting for the bed/mattress?...Great job and well done...it's beautiful and well thought out.

  • @RedsCustomDesign

    If you don't keep your van/bus/camper closed up all the time, you don't need holes in the bed board. I lived in 42 Sq ft 6 days a week for 25 years. And never once had a mold issue and never had holes in the bed platform.

  • @RedsCustomDesign

    @RedsCustomDesign

    Ай бұрын

    #1, why? They were all sealed when put back in so not to leak. #2, that defeats the whole point of having a bus. #3, it wouldn't have been in the budget anyway. #4, the owner wanted to keep the original windows because that's what gives it the bus feel. So please explain to me what the benefits are for replacing the windows with rv windows?

    Wrong, most BLM land you can dump gray water on the ground. How many shower pans do you see for outside showers? How many camp Kitchens do you see with holding tanks? 30+ years of going camping and have one had one issue. And that was in NY.

  • @frankzicari784

    I stand corrected BLM land you can do it. I have never been or will ever do BLM camping. That being said some states like Arizona allow shower water only no sink water and no you don't see shower pans under outdoor showers or tanks under outdoor kitchens but that doesn't mean it's OK. Most all parks I have camped at will state in the rules no dumping dish wash water on the ground. So other then BLM camping I don't think that you would find any other places it's OK. As far as the outdoor shower and outdoor kitchen if people can not figure out that that is the same thing, well let's just say you can't fix ...... .
