Hello everyone, welcome to our Royal Atlantis project in dubai. I am Kadambari, co-founder and creative director of KAD Designs. Hi, I’m Akshat, I’m the managing director and the co-founder of KAD Designs.
The client has a great great sense of design and aesthetics and he came to us with a clear vision and he wanted something very modern and a modern holiday home.
This is a very beautiful four bedroom apartment and we wanted to make everything bespoke and custom to his liking. We were very sure from the very beginning that we would not be repeating any of the materials that we had already worked with in the past. So our challenge was to actually source different kinds of materials from all over the world.
That also gave us the confidence to be able to you know look for vendors, look for suppliers in terms of different materials and most of the materials that you see here are either sourced from the UK or Italy and of course some even from India, which are very unique in its own way. Because we are a design and production house, once the meetings and the designers finalize with the client, it comes to our in house manufacturing team in terms of how to execute this project. Being a very high-end finish for every single detail that was mentioned in this project, we had to go about doing a lot of research and development in how to execute and how to manage this whole process.
Since the designs were very unique and it came with a lot of challenges, we also gave in our own inputs into what can be done and we added a lot of unique details. If you see there’s a lot of details where we’ve gone into 45-degree cuts on the marble to be able to match the draw fascia. There are places where we’ve added unique details in terms of internals that could add more depth and value to the unit.
We never wanted any dull moment in the room so we added a lot of colors and we played with a lot of multiple layers of colorings. So if you see the carpets are nicely colored, we’ve gone for a mustard chair over here as well as maroon so it’s not from the same family but you would see that it tells a nice color story. So in one of the rooms there was a particular design with a checkered veneer that came to the table and it’s unique in its own way because all the lines of the unit need to match which is an extremely tedious process.
Now my team went through a rigorous process of individually hand crafting each and every box in that checkered veneer pattern to match it. There were challenges in terms of where the veneer was curving, where there was any drawers that need to be matched. So we faced a lot of challenges because of the craftsmanship that we hold in our company and the high standard that we hold.
We were able to execute that pattern very well. So every room has a different color story and we wanted to play with different marble colors when it came to each and every room or the element in every room. If you see all the rooms they are all complemented with the correct design and color of marble that we’ve chosen.
The team spent a lot of time In going through patterns to match each and every marble and providing the right pattern match in the end so that it looks aesthetically pleasing. So art is not only just in the form of paintings and sculptures but also art is in the form of textured art on the wall. So we collaborated with artists and basically whatever you see here at the back it’s done by hand and by an artist and me and my design team were here making sure that the colors are right that complement the room very well.
