Luxury for 79,90 Euros? | Frecciarossa ETR 500 Executive Class | Venice - Milan

In this trip report or travelmentary I show you Trenitalia's Frecciarossa ETR 500 in the highest booking class called Executive. That is like First Class or Business Class on an airplane, with all the perks that go with it: top-notch seats and service, lounge access and more. This makes the Frecciarossa one of the best high-speed rail products in Europe. Besides, I explain what the Italian Ferrovie dello Stato Italiane is, how train stations in Italy are classified - and much more.
Please keep in mind I'm not a professional videographer. I try to make the videos the best I can though and if you want to support my work, sharing, liking and subscribing are much appreciated.
Enjoy the video!

I may finish up in Cinque Terre area..

    I think the ETR500 is more comfortable than the Frecciarossa1000 on the 2 lower class, but the ETR400 (frecciarossa 1000) is better for the 2 higher classes

    Hi, thank you very much for your comment, it means a lot to me! Milano is a nice station and very big. I remember it took me very long until I found that supermarket on the lower floor :D. The other ones you mention, I still have to visit. Thanks again for watching and your comment!

    @@travelmentaryTV No problem, you deserve it. If you go back to Italy in the future, I suggest you go to Napoli Afragola station, it's a new station for high speed trains designed by Zaha Hadid, and apparently it's considered the most beautiful in Italy (but I've never had the chance to visit it)

    Great travel idea! I have always wanted to visit the South of Italy. Zaha Hadid was a genius and it would be very nice to make a trip from/to that station and create a video. Generally, I kind of started to prefer making train videos over plane trip reports (although those will be coming, too). Thanks again!

    Hi, in Executive Class there are no double seats, but you could sit facing each other. In all other classes there are 2-1 or 2-2 configurations, so you can sit next to each other.

    The Venice train station reminds me of brutal, fascist architecture--- not at all sympathetic with Venice in history or spirit. Some favorite stations are Berlin HB (very big but it works!) ad Grand Central in NYC.

    Hi, glad to see you here! I agree about Venezia Santa Lucia, it just doesn’t fit to the rest of the city and looks kind of evil :D. I have mixed feelings about Berlin Hb, I probably was there at the wrong time ;). Grand Central is one that I would love to include in a video. Thanks a lot for watching and your constant support!

    Rationalism and modern was the trend in architecture in those days all around the world (Wright, Gropius, Le Corbusier, Aalto, van der Rohe), while there was rationalism (and Venezia Santa Lucia is part of this trend) with for example the Casa del Fascio in Como or the city of Latina or even Niguarda, who don't mix up at all with the historic buildings, there was also for example the Vittoriano, Milano Centrale, Palazzo dell'Arengario, the EUR with the Palazzo della Civiltà Italiana, the Foro Italico, the Monumento alla Vittoria in Bolzano, the Palazzo dell'Aeronautica... all mix up better than the MAXXI or the Ponte della Costituzione will ever do, and these are part of fascist architecture. Also if you want a socialist (and leftist in general) spirit in Italy look to the city of Milan or the region of Emilia-Romagna, not Venice (where the Film Festival was initiated by another fascist and approved by the Fascist Government in 1932 and that bridge connecting the city with the mainland was built the year later).

    @Andrea Moroni Interesting comment with many examples, thanks for sharing your view! I think Milano Centrale was designed by Stacchini before Mussolini came into power and plans were changed to conform with Fascist design language at least to some degree. You mentioned the Ponte della Constituzione, which is even more controversial than Santa Lucia, that’s for sure. I think with largely medieval buildings around it is difficult to build something completely different without causing confusion, no matter if it’s a fascist or socialist design.

  • @andreamoroni97

    @andreamoroni97

    @@travelmentaryTV Yes, Stacchini designed it in 1912, but right before construction he made small changes to adapt it to what was wanted at the time, those small changes were only on the inside, the exterior remained untouched, meaning that for the town hall that pushed the project it was good, and infact it follows the pattern of the “brutal, fascist architecture“ (and a fascist ideal for that matter) of merging the old and the new like all the other examples, while modern architecture rejects completely the old styles (in the Bauhaus they didn't even teach the history of architecture) and we ended up with exactly Santa Lucia in Venice. It is possible to merge old and new, you can do that if you follow the bulding codes that imposes even few colors for the new buildings in historic centres, at the time it wasn't as restrictive as it is today. The Ponte della Costituzione is just a joke, both on safety and aesthetics, to think that some go to ski there as a joke says it all. Also not to get too political, but I didn't express well in the comment before, I should have said only 'leftist' instead of adding 'socialist' because Mussolini himself never refused all of the socialist ideas he had, even after he was kicked out of the socialist party, Fascism took both the good ideas from Left (without falling in Communism, being against it) and Right (without falling into Nazism, for example the trains from Milano Centrale to the concentration camps only began when the germans took control) and many reforms made at the time would be considered socialists today.
