We knew about in the hood. And in Black neighborhood bars across the country. It doesn't matter what city or small town I was in this song Believe Me plays it was slept on by the pop and and daytime radio but at night on black private owned radio stations this thing played. And let it be known that this was number one on the R&B and soul charts don't get it messed up nor twisted you looking at mainstream pop music they might have slept but the R&B charts didn't sleep on this song it stayed on the charts check it out for quite a while this album stayed on the charts for weeks so the only people that slept on it is people that either listen to regular white radio stations or Mega radio stations and not small Hometown radio station because when this came out a lot of black-owned station still existed so it played it just didn't play on regular pop contemporary popular music radio station so if you listen to that you didn't get it if you didn't go into Hood bars or until Hood stablish meds and I don't mean Hood meaning ratchet at me I'm talkin about when this came out late 70s early 80s you have to remember black business establishments were still heavily populated throughout cities in America so we got to listen to our music I'm not sure your age range but we heard it in Chicago we heard it in Milwaukee we heard it in Detroit we heard it and Philly we heard and DC we heard those are the cities that I frequent that the most as a teenager but I travel to places like la just not as much believe me hard it'll make quiet storms and they late-night you know love situations you heard the song I don't know what your generation is what region of the country you came up in but this phone and he won you know black awards for it so it depends on who you saying it was not his most popular this thing was phenomenal

Luther knew the importance of singing songs live “just like the album”……
Luther sings in a way that makes you want to love someone even if the relationship doesn't work out. Simply captivating is his gift.
LMBO the world didnt care if he was or wasn't gay, this dude's singing was and is so diplomatically engaging that it removes mental hostility, political judgement and emotional mayhem. Luther Varonzoni Vandross Esq. World renowned musical diplomat.

So well stated! Ronnie truly was a gentleman first and what's even more interesting he was more of a Dandy than a queen... but most wouldn't get that so that's where you get a diplomat someone who over stood that who he is not based on who he loves. Especially when it came to the Arts. He overstood that not that people wouldn't accept him but that he didn't want to impede his personal with his art because they were one in the same to him. One of his books explains this to a science. Those of us that got to know him personally in his home got to see this beautiful human being be loving at the same time Stern and that's how he was onstage a perfectionist that's how he was in his life despite whatever was going down he was go put his best foot forward. An example for many of us to taking our own lives and purposes

The thing is..... "Most of his concerts were recorded, because he had cameras all over the place." Even the one at Radio City Music Hall was supposed to be released on DVD because it was a Valentine's Day Show, but when he had that stroke, the release was put on hold in the hopes he would pull through. After he died, his mama still wanted to have it released, but then she passed away, so it's been left in limbo ever since. Now i took my camera inside two concerts, the first one, I was sitting right next to where they walked out, so I couldn't record without getting busted. I thought I had recorded him right in front of me singing Superstar & A House Is Not A Home, but when I got home, I realized I had most of the lights & rafters instead of him. But I did get the audio. So I went to the next show & I purposely sat in the nose bleeds so I could record the entire concert. I did upload some video on here, but my account kept getting shutdown thanks to Prince. BUT... if you go to my IG page, you'll see some of the clips from that concert because I made a DVD for another fan. My IG is stankfunkmusic. You won't have to scroll far because I did it last week.

Yep. Him & Peabo were the go to guys for background singers in the 70's. This man was dropped from Atlantic & had to fund his own way through Epic. I learned when I started in the music business, that you can have all the talent in the world & someone's not gonna like you. It's amazing how that happens & what's crazier, is the music you never hear from these same artists.... due to record label BS.
Luther's music brings me joy and pain. Joy for the incredible unmatched talent he possessed. Pain for the fact that he's no longer with us. I saw him in concert once, and it was an experience I will remeber and cherish forever. May he rest in peace! So happy his music lives on to this day - 2023 and counting!!!😇😇

It's ironic that my 1st born was born on this day, & she got to meet him a bunch of times, all the while not knowing they shared the same birthday. When he last performed at the Universal Amphitheater, we ran into him backstage & she told him they have the same birthday, they high-fived & we took our seat. About 5 songs in, the spotlight hit her, she waved, he waved back & she lost it.... "HE WAVED AT MEEEEEEE!" I didn't miss a concert in the LA area with from '85 until he passed.
