Lure Making - Beautiful wooden Needlefish! Made from a cheap Amazon tool!

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

My name is Jake Schogler - I make lures!
In this video I take you through all the steps I used to create an amazing Needlefish/Garfish stick bait from a cheap Amazon wooden clay tool.
Plus theres actually a bit of fishing footage to show where the inspiration came from.
As always I love to hear your thoughts so let me know in the comments!

I too see lures in lots of wooden items. That tool was born to be a needlefish. Great job Jake!

The colours are really nice. I like the trick of filling the wire slot with a cocktail pick and sawdust. 🇨🇦

Nice lure,I have 2 advices,I think that middle point eyelet hook wire should be little more towards back of the lure, for example if lure is 20cm long middle hook should be around 8cm from back or 12 cm from front,,and you can use superglue and baking soda to fill the wire gap,but this hardens more so it is harder to sand it. I was thinking along the lines of trolling them from the boat on the loch, and/or hand casting them through the bays. Can't say I've tried this shape of lure on a loch before.@@JakeSchogler

@@campbellpurdie7274 I know this style works well for sea trout in the sea. Generally cast and retrieved though but sea trout are just brownies after all. so if they like them...

Nice lure Jake! That's exactly what that ol' chunk of wood needed to be. It'll have a lot more fun swimming in the water.

Amazing lure. It might be difficult, but you could bisect the wooden body, carve out a chamber, and make a magnetic weight transfer system. It could cast a mile. the only down side to that idea is that you would have to use screw-in hook hangers. There's a lot of potential this bait.

Thankyou so much! I would love to put a transfer system in , but theres just not enough room on the body of the lure. ( its thinner than a pencil for 3/4 of the length). Lol it would cast to the moon! However even without the transfer system it casts really well as its tail weighted and super aerodynamic. Its come in at 10.5g so nice and easy to keep it up top if the fish are hunting close to the surface. Just wish we'd get a calm period where I can use it, stupid storms!

Nice lure Jake. I remember useing tools like that to model clay in my art class at highskool. Now, the video itself. I watched it trying to find something to criticise, and the only thing Id mibbae suggest is a cleaner work bench or one color work surface so we can see what your doing a wee bit clearer. And thats it. Great video.

Thanks for watching it Sean! I had to pop on some reading glasses to do the foiling, it was fiddley but well worth it I think. I know I'm gonna get some Bass on this 😉
