Ah! This is a brilliant episode! I have one question though, how should a westerner act on Korean New Years? I've been invited to a New Years get-together by my asian-pacific friends who are spending their first New Years abroad. I think it's just a casual, come to eat situation but should I bring anything as a guest as a symbol of good luck? What would be appropriate and not disrespectful... I've heard satsumas mean well?? If I can get someones opinion on it, I'd greatly appreciate! Thankyou!

"Mother" is 어머니 (eomeoni / uh-muh-nee), "mom" is 엄마 (eomma / eom-mah) "Father" is 아버지 (apeoji / ah-puh-jee), "dad" is 아빠 (appa / a-ppah) "Aunt" is 이모 (imo / ee-mo) "Grandmother" is 할머니 (halmeoni / hal-muh-nee) "Grandfather" is 할아버지 (hal-abeoji / hal-ah-puh-jee) I hope this is enough for you :)

So I know that because of the fact everyone ages at once during this ceremony, everyone in Korea is regarded a year older than they are, but I have a two part question: I was wondering when this sets in - is it when you're a baby? So even if you were born in December, and the Lunar New Year fell in January, despite being 1 month old, you're now a year old? And if so, when telling others the child's age are they 1 year old, or 1 month old? Or both?

I'm not saying Chinese invented the universe, I don't think anyone could have done that. So enlighten us, who invented the lunar calendar? You invented the lunar calendar? I don't think so.
