Lunar Lake Lowers Power With AV1 YouTube Video Playback On E-Cores | Talking Tech | Intel Technology

Ғылым және технология

Our new Lunar Lake architecture enables better battery life by running more workloads on a low-power island populated entirely by E-cores. Fresh from the Intel Technology Tour in Taipei, Talking Tech takes in a KZread 4K AV1 video playback demo comparing Lunar Lake’s power consumption to that of an Intel Core Ultra processor based on the current Meteor Lake generation. The E-cores get an assist from hardware-accelerated AV1 decode in the integrated media engine.

This is for people who always believe Intel "can't" makes efficient chip, also for people who always believe x86 can't be as efficient as ARM.

25% - 60% real world translation, in battery is what I see on the screen comparing Lunar Lake to Meteor Lake. Looking like Intel have really hit this one out of the park right now!

@@frankwong9486it's not just because of Tsmc 3nm process node they have made a lot of changes in microarchitechture too for making to mobile ready.

Yes! Can't wait for the silence of "hurr durr ArM iS sO mUcH mOrE eFfIcIeNt ThAn x86 hurr" when comparing an M chip which was on a better node, with on-chip RAM, using a non-bloated OS. I can't wait to see Lunar Lake with Linux how efficient it can be.

Lion Cove is slightly more intresting but I guess mobile, means a lot more to business, where power duration and compute performance, mean being able to work, or being an employee.
