Great vid, but I think it’s always great to see the final look (in the water)

I totally agree. In hindsight I should have probably gotten additional footage in the water at night to add to the video.

Also next time sand the gelcoat outside of the boat for the sealant to bond an if you have bottom paint remove all bottom paint under the light

The boat definitely needs a good cut, polish, and sealer. We are fresh water and trailer the boat here, so no bottom coat. Makes it a bit easier I guess.

Great vid. I was surprised about the 12ga. I thought LEDs needed minimal Amps and the wires on the lights look like 16 to me. Where did you see 12ga?

It all depends on how far your wire is going to run from the battery, to switch, to the light. You have to take that entire length, and use about 7a@12V per light as the high water mark to size the wire gauge for the Seablaze X2. Here is a good page with a chart you can use for wire size vs length vs amps: learnmetrics.com/12v-wire-size-calculator-chart/

@@NKPGarage When considering wire sizes in any vehicle that DOES NOT have a metal chassis of any substantial amount, ALWAYS double the measurement of distance, to include the negative return wire to the source, as that too, effects the resistance of the wire feeding anything. ie: if the light is say 5M away (wire run distance) and the earth return wire (the negative) also has to return to somewhere near the dashboard light switch, then 10 meters should be used in the calculation, or you will have too much voltage drop - which will affect the light output.

So to get JUST WHITE, at 39:50 one needs to not only have a switch on the dash panel, which turns the light on, you also need a push-off momentary switch beside that, to pulse the unit from default fade-out from blue to white to blue again, then you need the momentary button to pulse the mode to full blue and a second pulse to get it to white. NOW, what happens when you depower the switch (ie: turned the interior lights off) and then repower in on again several hours later. WILL THE TRANSOM LIGHT remain at it's last setting, or do you have to hit that momentary button TWICE (again) to return it to steady white?

You don't even need a momentary switch. You can use your on/off switch by itself to switch between color modes.

Great point!! I added an inline fuse as well for protection. But I plan on changing the fuse to a breaker this winter.

18:55, anyone, with care - can then use the actual fitting, as a "perfect" guide to either start drilling, or do all of the screw-hole pilots. PLUS, one does NOT have to draw the wire OUT of the hole to do any of that work. In fact one should be able to apply the sealant as well, without removing the fitting or the cable. Only people who are careless or incompetent will remove the cable after inserting it the first time (as one doesn't even need that piece of cardboard with the drill template. Simply drilling the center hole first is enough for a "professional", to drill the center hole, insert the cable and use the fitting to act as the template, through which one starts all the pilot holes, to then either HOLD the fitting while the drilling of the pilot holes to full depth, or gently move the fitting to one side, and hold away from where you are using the drill, one cane easily drill ALL of the pilots without removing the fitting or it's length of cable, whereupon one simply runs a bead of sealant arount the hole, as well as around the back of the fitting, and screw in-situ. The end.

@@NKPGarage It's the common practice most electricians use, as it's way simpler to feed the wire through ONCE.

This low voltage supply vs cable distance / voltage-drop effect, which means more current needs to flow in any low voltage circuit, to counteract the loss of voltage at the fitting being powered, if the cable size is too small, is what amazes me about most motor vehicles, both old and new. Well especially the newer ones. Old cars used to have fairly heavy cables, just not many of them as the number of electrical gadgets was limited in the original older vehicles. Now, we have modern cars with all sorts of electrical whizz bang things running at all times, yet the wiring looms from the factory, makes my mind boggle, at the size (or should I say the lack of size) of most modern wiring looms. PLUS, there is a little known problem, of HEAT that builds up in wiring looms, vs open run wires. When one encounters a vehicle's interior wiring for example, sometimes there's maybe 20 or 30 circuits in one loom. All with about 16 or 18 gauge.. Yet many of those circuits are supplying very heavy loads at the other end, which I believe could potentially be having higher temperatures in those looms, than is safe. Maybe it's because the manufacturers don't give a damn, or maybe they think people won't be driving for say 6 - 8 hours a trip with everything ON?

And he said it multiple times 😂. I appreciate the video but good lord, you talk about where you’re going to drill and why for Wayyyyyy to long. We get it, nobody likes putting holes in their boat. But god dammit get the fuck on with it already 😂. Again I appreciate the video. Big ups.
